How do I offer an opinion? Your choices are between one I have (and love) and one that I want !

Do you need a date feature??? That's was a deal breaker for me years ago. Do you want to be able to swim with your watch??? Obviously you can with both but a dive watch will take ALOT more abuse. The Daytona wears much smaller than a Sub.

I guess it depends what you want it for.

If it's a matter of function then you will know best. If it's a matter of style, that's a different matter, and in that case the sub gets my vote.

Good luck and happy shopping.

Surely it depends on price more than anything?

The Daytona is about 60% more expensive.

Either one now, the other later. Both classics.

Definitely the Sub.

I've never understood the Daytona craze and I guess I never will.

As mentioned above, I would also prefer the Sub. The 14060 even more than the pictured 114060!

those two watches are worlds apart in both function and design..

You should get the watch that most closely fits your lifestyle and not because of the opinion of a bunch of strangers..

or get some of each - that's what I do..

You will be very likely to end up with both, either at the same time or flip one thinking you still want the other.

Personally, between those two variants I would get the Daytona. Not sold on the new sub shape, yet.

Daytona vs. 50th sub would be an excruciating decision for me.

I've had and sold three Rolex Subs and will never sell my Daytona, not an opinion but my experience. My opinion is the Sub date (C or pre C is too big and clunky) the C is somewhat garish and screams look at me. Sub no date pre C is very comfortable but a bit bland for my tastes. The Daytona's is extremely comfortable and doesn't scream at you like the Sub C in my opinion. Based on my experience I'd get a Daytona and latter a pre C GMT11, then you have a Sub like watch with a little more character and a very comfortable fit.

Daytona gets my vote, but then I'm a sucker for chronographs. It's my first Rolex and I couldn't be happier with it.

But who am I kidding? I tried on a subC at an AD recently, just to have a quick look, and I could instantly see the appeal. I'll end up with both before it's all over.

I chose the Daytona for several reasons. I do want a non-date sub though.

One reason I chose Daytona for first Rolex is because it is much more rare than a sub in the wild. Sub's are extremely popular and I wanted something different. The Daytona does wear smaller and for me thats a plus, the Daytona fits under my french cuffs better.

I also think Daytona dances between formal and casual much better.

My two cents.....

WOW for me the two best!!

If I could only have one I would have to go with the Sub, but admit I have both
so...good luck!!

They are my two favourite watches. Have the Sub-C, now need to get the Daytona. Black Daytona definitely looks better than the white Daytona!

Hard to offer an opinion without any criteria, so basically I'm just picking what I want. If it were my first Rolex I'd get the Submariner/date.
Daytona is awesome and I really want one but just wouldn't fit in my world by itself.

Not a fan of the new Ceramic Sub line up, Daytona would be my choice.

Subc has the date and wears like a 42mm, so if those are important that's the one I would get.
