Back from RSC

My DSSD is back from Beverly Hills RSC today. Wallet is $600 lighter but the watch is as good as new. Took 3 weeks, satisfied with the service. Been about 2 hours since I set the time, still +/- 0 so far.

Very Nice. Looks great. The Beverly Hills RSC must have sent your watch to Dallas to do the service. When I called a few months ago they did not have the proper equipment to service the DSSD (don't think they have the machine to pressure test it to its depth rating) and they indicated they just send any DSSD to Dallas for service. I wonder if they now have the necessary equipment or your watch was actually serviced by Dallas RSC.

Hmm...interesting. They didn't mention anything about sending the watch off to Dallas. When I dropped it off I asked about pressure testing, the lady at front desk told me they can service the watch on site. I hope they did pressure test it to 3900m as shown on dial.

Have not noticed anything out of place so far, we'll see if I find anything down the road. But happy to report that no marks on the lugs. I did ask the lady when I dropped it off to make sure the techs don't leave tool marks and she put it on the work order sheet.

What was the issue? Can't say I would be happy to be $600 lighter on a 4 year old watch that should have lasted a few more years before a service. Sorry, I just expect 7 years out of a cal 3135

There was no issue, I had it for 5 years so I took it in. They looked at it and said it didn't require service so it was up to me. I decided that I already took the time to go there so just to let them do it and get it over with. It'll be good for the next 7 years.

They did a light touch up, didn't really need a polish mostly around the clasp. I was debating to let them refinish or not...I decided that this is no vintage watch and it's going to serve me for the next 5-7 years or so, so what the heck.

did rsc refinish the titanium case back?as for the tech info page is a part that should not be refinished, but i've heard of scratches always removed at service.

can you post a better pic of the lugs and the lugs edges?

thank you and enjoy the sea dweller!

Do a power reserve test as well as a accuracy test. Its the only way to test your main springs health.

Why in the world would he need to do that? He just had it fully serviced.

I'm pretty sure they didn't test it to 3900m since it requires special equipment (and very expensive) made by comex. Also I'm pretty sure that pressure test is only made with air and not water. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Cool, I would have done the same. I'm sure a lot on vintage pieces were fully serviced more often than not during their ownership. I trust Rolex knows what they're doing.

I don't know if the pressure test machine is Made by Comex (Comex Made the post production wr test machine) but Rolex affiliate have the tolo to do it. Here in Italy the ad can service the entire line of modella except the deepsea Who has to be sent at Rolex Italia ,Milan ,the affiliate of Italy :)

Last time I visited RSC-BH they had full service already so they could and can service SDDS now.

The work order sheet shows "do not refinish engraved case back", without me telling them, so they probably knew what they're doing
You can ask them not to refinish the watch and remove the scratches if you chose to. I think they did a great job that's why I always prefer factory polish.

The tank was developed by Rolex and Comex. I can't seem to get an answer on if the watch is tested to 3900m or not at service, everyone has their own opinion. Before I took the watch in to RSC, I called both BH and Dallas RSC's and asked them about servicing and pressure testing the DSSD, both told me they can do it.....so, I don't know? Maybe you guys can call your local RSCs and see what they say? I can't imagine the watch leaving the shop if it wasn't tested to what the dial says, but what do I know.

Looks good but I would have waited for a service for at least another year or two.

Mainsprings are always replaced as part of service.

This has me thinking... does this mean that non Parachrom springed watches would be fitted with Parachrom springs at service?
