Opinions on this dial.

Will this fit a 1970 DD?

Looks real to me. The "T" stands for when they used Tritium instead of Luminova.

I believe this to be the genuine article.

It will not fit a 1970 DD

That dial is for a quickset model--you need a "piepan" dial for a 1970 model--compression fit with no dial feet like this one.....

Thank you VERY much for the information.

Oh bother, the older the part the harder it is to get and the bigger the bucks and the more likely to be refinished. As Rolex no longer makes parts for that watch NOS is being depleted daily. This is not life or death for me just my quest of the moment. What would bother me much more than the price is not getting what was promised especially as I e-mail every seller and hold their feet to the fire on the description which is a contract.

One guy got P.O.ed and withdrew the item.

Why are the back of these dials so badly pitted, scratched and all marked up?

Spot welds and solder maybe? I find it interesting how much attention goes to the dial, only to flip it over and find a beaten and battered mess.

Think about it, how many non watch geeks ever see the back of a dial. It takes an uber-geek to care that his dial has been touched by non-Rolex products. It takes a hunter gather to want to remedy it.
