The article is "eh" but the comments are classic.

I think most people in the comments aren't watch enthusiasts. It takes a passion to want to collect or own high end watches. I sometimes think, "why do I have one when others struggle with day to day things?" In the end I try to justify it by saying that its a beautiful timepiece and it will last longer than me. It's also something that I can hand down if I ever have any kids.

I read this, this morning. Poorly written citizen journalism.

Article was pretty uninformative. And the comments were the typical ones that you see on any article like that: "buying an expensive watch is stupid." "No. You don't understand a fine time piece."

"a ... Daytona cosmograph or Daytona panda dial" Isn't the latter also the former? Love the journalist nativity.

Amazing what passes for journalism...I've read it three times and I still don't understand the purpose of the "article."

Absolutely!!
I also saw the article earlier today, and was summarily disappointed. Waste of that "click", and not even timely....haven't seen any semblance of a "Daytona Shortage" of late, like we saw in years gone by...... Grady, as usual, you definitely

x2 Some priceless gems in there
Yahoo user Q10 explains why watches are unnecessary: "You become very aware of clocks on walls, receipts, your car, your phone,,, its about 2 hours since breakfast and I ate at 8:15 (clock on the diner wall, car radio was 9:25 when I left) I learned to get along without them. For me I have no use for it hanging on my wrist." |

...speaking of clicks...I clicked on the "5 Stylish Dive Watches" link, below the article, which lead me to the Timex Intelligent Quartz Depth Gauge link which I followed to Timex.com. As I have a fondness for dive watches particularly those with a depth function, after a little research I ended up with new Timex Depth Gauge from Herberger's for $168.75
