Another quick question...

How would you guys/gals compare the 70's American-made C+I riveted (folded) Oyster bracelets with their Swiss-made counterparts of the same era?

I have one for sale on the bay and I've got someone giving me a hard time about it.

I've been told the center links on the USA are not as wide as the SWISS made rivet bracelet and the rivets are a bit different.

If they don't want it, tell 'em to take a hike! I've heard people say that the US made bracelet quality was comparable to the Swiss made.

Can you post a link to the ebay listing? I'm curious as I have a 1972 model and have found it to be fine and well built.

I prefer the USA C&I bracelets and find them very light and comfortable. Many of my watches from the 1960's through the 1970's are wearing C&I bracelets.

nothing wrong with a C&I bracelet, quality wise very comparable with the swiss version
the only significant difference to me is the 30% in price because it's not perceived as the real thing... (buying and selling of course)

Most generally consider the Swiss-Made ones as better. I've had both, (and at the same time, for direct comparison) and I think that's the case. A Swiss one will always command a higher price...

I own Swiss-made rivet bracelets, US-made C&I's, English-made WAB's, French-made Gay Frere's and a few Hecho en Mexico's.
I've always thought that the C&I bracelets compare very favourably with the others and of all Rolex bracelets, represent the best bang for your buck.

They are light, comfortable, fit-for-purpose and easy for Michael Young to punch some life back into if needed.
Irrespective of where and when bracelets were made, Rolex always set and maintained the quality standards anyway.
I've never really understood the hype for Swiss-made rivet bracelets so it's C&I all the way for me.

The US has always been a big market for Rolex too so unless someone knows for sure that their watch was first sold in Europe, odds are that a C&I may have been original issue anyway

It's got a little stretch to it (not too bad) and two of the links were removed so it would fit the previous owner's wrist. But, overall, it's in great condition.

As noted in my ad, it's in FAR better condition (I.E. no dings, dents, scratches, or gouges) than a LOT of the other C+I bracelets that have been sold and are currently listed.

It's a 35+ year old FOLDED metal bracelet. I would expect to see some stretch.

I have a C&I that has zero stretch but I paid $300 more than yours is currently, that's a very fair price.
