Getting married

I'm getting married next week and am curious if I'm the only one whose done this...

My better half and I eschew rings, don't like the aesthetic and for us it's uncomfortable, so we got engraved Rolex watches as the equivalent of wedding rings.

Also, despite the fact that I'm posting this on the internet, we're otherwise rather private and enjoy knowing that the symbolism of our commitment is invisible to the outside world.

Has anyone else here done wedding watches or have I started my own trend?

Are you expected to wear the watch every day and forever, like a wedding ring? If not, then its a nice idea. Congratulations.

No, I was very clear that this very special rolex has brothers and sisters who will get jealous if they aren't given wrist time too....

Such a great idea for people who don't like wearing rings or jewelry in general for that matter. I personally enjoy rings and bracelets. Congratulations in advance.

My wife would want a ring and the watch if we would do it again. BTW she has both already! Hahahahha That is cool what you are doing, however like one asked are you not going to take off the watch like a wedding ring? My wife does not take hers off other than to clean or service.

So will you be saying "With this Rolex, I thee wed"? or will they leave that part out of the ceremony? It would be nice to see you both exchange watches at the altar (assuming it's a church wedding).

Congratulations on your wedding. I think it's a great idea to have Rolex watches instead of wedding rings.

Good idea, Zachary, both practical AND romantic. Around here in western Europe, men don`t usually wear rings other than wedding rings.
So my girlfriend and I did a similar thing, just without the wedding and the engraving. When it comes to expressing love, I think there is nothing wrong with using a nice Rolex, and there is also nothing wrong with adding to your watch one more reason to make you happy.
By the way, which models did you choose?

Its a nice idea, I think most women would prefer a nice ring, altho that could be as an engagement ring, and most WIS would prefer a nice watch. Makes good sense.

Zachary, first congratulations with your upcoming wedding!
I am not married, but watches have always played a special role in my life.
And with most of my watches there's an emotion attached.
So yes I like your way of exchanging Rolexes at your wedding! Even if you'll wear other watches aswell. That one will always be special and will remind you of your weddingday (and your wife)
P.S.: I too like to know of you both get matching watches ?

Congrats on the marriage. I think the idea is great. Its surely better than getting ring tattoos.

However, I think it would also be necessary to buy plain bands for both of you. You don't have to wear it but I would imagine it's better to have it than to not. A pair of 18K bands should be quite affordable.

Congrats! How about buying her a nice Rolex and wear your ring when you want and take it off when you don't want to wear it. I never wear mine on weekends but always wear my watch!

Congrats. I like the idea and since it seems you both love the idea it sounds super. You can always buy a ring later on, or another watch!

Congratulations!

I think a ring is hugely symbolic but that's just my opinion. If this makes the two of you happy then go for it
