I connect it to my computer and copy everything at the hard drive. Then I have a copy if something go wrong.
I have a app to my Iphone/Ipad where I copy everything too and then I can access my files at home from another
computer or from my phone.

Ever use a Citrix based service like GoToMyPc? or a VMWare connection to remotely access your PC or Server from your phone or table or laptop?

My daughter just bought the exact same one from Amazon.co.uk, £147.50 "Daily Deal", now back up to £171.00.

Some of the Amazon reviews are iffy but I've not heard of any problems so far, 1 week in.

How does this differ from an external hard drive?

Once something is downloaded or added to 'the cloud' you can access and share it from any of your connected devices', without actually having the 'cloud thing' with you. Quite useful if you have or need access to lots of info.

Never heard about it. I use Citrix for my cash register at work.

Everything and all new events from your computer, phone, Ipad be imprinted on this disk automatically. Then you can log on
to it from another computer or phone, and download the files you need, wherever you find yourself with an Internet
connection. You will have full access to all your files like documents, images, PDF, ect, ect. Furthermore, you have everything
backed up on any of your devices would crash. I'll hook it over the weekend and will be back with further info.

Similar concept.
Your files in Dropbox are hosted by their server.
Cloud downloads them to your device once you access them
Probably a bit more too it than that but that is the one basic difference I know of

Still don't get it, my external hard drive is the size of a cell phone and I can carry it easy in a pocket and that way have everything with me?

I can understand that. Instead of a physical drive all you do is log in anywhere.
One example: You have your own business, just say a law firm, and it has a cloud. Say you are on holiday and and an employee calls to say you need to see XYZ. you can just log into 'the cloud', anywhere in the world and see it.
Of course other ways to do it but it has a purpose I guess.

I have seen your cell phone.

Another thing is all you give access to your files can log in. So if a family have one they can all use it for example.
I guess it's not everyone that have use for it as many other electronic gadgets. It's like several watches, you not
need it but it's fun to have.

I was confused myself about the cloud and the hard drive concept. Im not a fan of the cloud. I have it on my phone ( I have iphone/Mac/ & iPad) and ended up with every picture off my computer on my phone. :-( Now I can't get rid of the pictures. Some should not be on my phone. I'll just leave that one alone...

But..can you control what goes into the cloud? Im not a techno geek, obviously, so I don't know. Thats a lot of files...

Curious to find out what you think of it Jocke...

So what needs to be on to access the files from the cloud? I am assuming at a minimum the cloud would need to be on, but do you also need to have a computer on next to the cloud to access the data from say your iphone if you are on vacation? Or is it a stand along device not requiring other hardware to be on only of course the internet connection where the cloud is located? Hope that my question made sense?

It's a stand alone product that is connected to the router that you access with another computer or phone. So it's not connected
to any computer, only to the network at home for example.
