When collectors refer to lug width as in "good tight lugs" what are they concerned with specifically?

If the space betwen the legs....er lugs, has been excessively rubbed and eroded away from movement of the end link, the bracelet will never fit tight...there will always be a loose fit.
Loose lugs - inside, fat lugs -outside

Loose lugs is often also accompanied with worn out (or barely visible) serial number.
