I haven't read all the posts on this situation but.....I own mostly vintage pieces. I would NEVER send them to a RSC because I know they want to return them to new condition. I don't want a new dial, hands or anything else other than new parts in the movement. Than been said, maybe they wouldn't polish the bracelet because they deemed it worn out??? If that's the case, they could have offered you a discount on the service (excluding the bracelet polish). That would have relieved them of liability, and you wouldn't feel you paid for something you didn't get. They could have put this in writing on your receite, and the whole issue would have been resolved.
PS, there are some great people here. Don't get too upset with some responses, we don't all have to agree, just agree to be polite and respect other's opinions. |

Bill don't take it personal. It's a forum with all the challanges of non-verbal communications.
I read more on the other thread and I have a better sense of the situation now (if you open multiple threads on the same topic it is difficult for everybody to have a clear understanding). As others have advised, you can try to write to Rolex and explain your discontent. Can you share with us more pictures of the bracelet? I am surprised that Rolex does not want to polish a 7 years old, lightly used, bracelet. Does it have a lot of stretch? |

There appears to be a very large gap between the 1st and 2nd, and 2nd and 3rd links. More than I've seen on any nonvintage oyster bracelet. Evil, can you post a traditional "bracelet stretch" photo whereby you hold the watch by the closed clasp and photograph it laterally to show the degree of stretch?

Not to continue the drama
To add some closure to this thread. Its been a week since I sent off my email to RSC NY politely but strongly addressing my displeasure with the service I received. They did not return my email. This pretty much confirms my desire to stay away from RSC NY. This is for those who asked to be informed. The watch is ok except for the bracelet. I'm waiting on a temporary band, before I send it off to MY.

Bill, why are you sending the band to MY? It doesn't looks like it needs to be rebuilt. A simple polishing should restore it to its former glory. I think you could save some money by sending it to somebody here in the states.

Im not trying to drag this out but because some kind people who have tried to help me, I will respond. I had to get off this forum a few days ago because Of the stress. with my advanced stage cancer and the meds. it does me no good to get upset futher by people who are/ were questioning my credibility.
As far as MY goes. I don't expect to be around next year and I want this watch to be pristine for my Son. I could go out and buy a new band for 1050 and insurance and shipping, or spend 200 with MY to make it as good as New. I certainly do not want to give Rolex another penny. Especially since they forced me ( strong armed me ) to buy a New bracelet in 2007. IM sure MY will make the bracelet as good as New and tight. AS far as polishing it. I could work the scratches out and scotch brite the links to retain the matte finish myself. But Ill let Michael do it. Bill aka EO |

The bracelet is more loose than I want it to be. I don't care about the cost. If it's, close to a new one when Michael is done Ill be happy, and I will save 800 dollars.
I know mostly everyone here has their heart in the right place. That why I would like to stick around. forums like this, help me to keep my sanity. |

Besides this forum, Rikki at Timecare Inc. will gladly answer any questions you have about your watch and bracelet. I called him many times just to pick his brain as he has been a watchmaker CW21 since 1980 with a Rolex parts account. He just serviced my Sub and I truly feel his case and bracelet refinish job is superior to what RSC can do. In fact I will probably never use an RSC ever again. He is a perfect gentleman over the phone and truly has a passion for working on these watches.

I'm also sorry for the way Rolex has treated you as a valued customer and as a person. Stuff like this seems to happen to me all the time and it really sucks, but in the end I ask myself, "what are you gonna do?". Thank you for the kind words. I honestly have no idea what's going on with RSC NY. The only logic I can come up with is the last time 2007, I wrote a steaming letter of dissatisfaction and I vowed never to give them another chance to screw me over. That letter is on file I am sure because they do look up customer history via a customer reference number.. There would be no other reason for them to treat me the way they have. The three times before that, RSC NY treated me like I was royalty.
AS others have said the Watch is small potatoes compared to more serious issues, The problem is that it was a big Father and son discussion over the last few months about me giving him my watch and me sending it off to be serviced. My son is 450 miles away. I get to see him and his family three or four times a year. When Rolex disrupted my plans, I got pissed off. IM not sure if its beating a dead horse to post in threads where people ask about Rolex service. I would hate anyone to go through what I have. I do see others experiencing similar issues. I also see others who are perfectly happy. IM just not sure why some are treated properly and some are treated poorly. |
