My first Rolex was this GMT. I bought it in 2002. I bought the Explorer 2 in 2011...both awesome watches!

Of the two, my favorite is the GMT, by a hair...

Polar, but I'm biased. With that said...you can't really go wrong with either.

Had both, twice... hopefully picking up another Coke Monday... Coke for me wins out for your only one, if I had a black dial then Polar for sure as second, but just couldn't do it by itself as my one and only

If only one, as specified.......GO COOOOOOOKE!!!!!!!!!! Can play switches with different inserts and get different looks. Perhaps the best, most versatile Rolex out there IMHO.

Very tough. Could go either way, but I'll say Exp2.
Ideally, this makes a great pair.

If looking at this as essentially a GMT versus Exp2 poll then functionality favors the the GMT because it is the more powerful tool. If you have a drawer full of black dial Rolex sport watches I'd perhaps suggest the Polar, especially if one of the ones in the drawer is already a GMT.

But you asked about these two specifically so I guess it is simply question of aesthetics. On that basis I like the looks of the GMT better. Plus I consider it more versatile and dresses up better, particularly with a switch to an all black insert. But agree that's my personal preference and think they are both great looking.

Both great but the choice is easy if you want the most versatile watch Rolex ever produced, the 16710.

GMT II gets my vote.

I don't think that Exp II would even fit on my wrist.
