First world problems.....you know a better beater would be an 114060 or Explorer 2. But the Pelagos is a nice alternative if the others cost too much.

That's a great watch. I dislike the word beater, as it seems to lessen the watch it is directed at. Most of the watches we discuss here would handle everyday wear without blinking.

I disagree, I think the term "beater" reflects the way that the owner intends to wear the watch, more than it describes any inherent quality of the watch itself.

If a person has a watch box full of PP, Milsubs and COMEX SDs, then perhaps that person wears his WG Submariner as a "beater" and in that context it is his beater. It doesn't make a statement about the watch itself, just its intended use in the context of that particular individual's collection.

You are probably right, as a person's beater is always dependant on the context of that individual's collection. I guess I got used to associating the term with watches that I am less afraid of damaging, as if that made me "care less" about them. Weird, I know...
