Did you mean 'collectors' or 'Kenneth'?

Well......
They got us all and others around the world to talk about it, great marketing if I must say. When was the last time rolex had a flop ? Some say Cellini...... But they just came out with a new batch.. So it must be selling well...

The only explanation I have is they didn't think they could make the Pepsi bezel for a couple more years and maybe not at all, so thought they should just get the BLNR out, but then soon discovered they could do the Pepsi too. Otherwise this is just an increasingly irritating and polarising move from Rolex. |

The explanation could also be as simple as Rolex cannot (for now anyway) make enough of the red & blue bezel inserts to keep up with the anticipated demand for a SS model, which would have been huge.

I don't think Rolex made a mistake at all with the BLNR. It gives people who want a SS GMT an option, plus it's a great looking watch.
The BLRO is a home run IMO and will sell...much more than if they released it with black/red colored ceramic insert

They are trying to create a FLAGSHIP model for each type. GMT got its PEPSI. SUB has its blue/WG model that goes for $26K or so. So watch out, now they will make a flagship for the EXPLORER next.

Rolex is Rolex, They do not answer to anyone. Rolex has never had a problem making a watch in SS and offering the same watch in TT and/ or Gold if they decided.
It will happen again, just not sure of which models. |

I agree, Rolex made the right move. Though I believe it has nothing to do with preserving previous gen values.
Rolex already made that money, they want new money, so they made what everybody wanted but you have to reach a little to get it. Someone said it well in another thread, can't remember; Rolex prices a few watches(Pepsi C) just so it's painful enough for the middle class to buy it........ With that in mind, it's reachable but folks like me will have to endure possible flips, no motorcycle, countless tongue lashings and months of servitude via the wife, etc.... With all the folks on here, which is quite a few, with multiple Rolexes, I'm not sure why all the angst. If Rolex made it easy to own, it wouldn't be Rolex, it would be Casio or Fossil. |

I really don't get people saying Rolex (or ANY manufacturing company) doesn't care about secondary market prices. This is ludicrous to me. This is part of their perceived value. There is no way rolex could get the prices and volumes they are selling if the secondary market was bad. I'm telling you, if secondary market prices fall, prime markets follow.
Also, I'm not complaining about he Pepsi only being in WG. I think it makes sense and the blue/black is being discredited as a result of all this hype.

If a black dial "LVC" were to be released I don't think that 16610LV values would plummet or if Rolex wrote Sea-Dweller in red on the SD4C's dial, I believe vintage reds would still have their worth. |

I think that every move Rolex makes is very well calculated and possibly rarely ever a mistake. Even so, it could be a well though out mistake? HA
