Is the world a worse place now more than ever

Or has it always been this bad but now everyone has a camera to record all the shit going on?

5 years ago or so this video is never seen.

Ps the video is not safe for work. It has bad words. If this bothers you or your children move on.

Having seen firsthand the underbelly of the world for 26 years as a beat cop I would have to say that yes, this country in general is a worse place than in the past. The entitlement generation (don't flame me, a lot of the younger generation is not this way but unfortunately many are) I think has a lot to do with that, also as you point out Bruno the advent of the smartphone, facebook, digital world helps events such as this travel much faster than ever before.
I also predict that your thread will be locked within 24 hours...

I agree. I think people are getting worse. It's dangerous out there.

It depends on where you are. I would have no qualms about my wife going for a late night walk where I live but there is a town nearby with a lot of people who have nothing to do and all day and all night to do it so it seems to be inevitable for them to relieve the boredom by initiating turmoil.
There are plenty of jobs for them but they won't take them so immigrants move in and do the work.
PC enough ?

Agh... This old argument. Yes, it's a much scarier place out there now. Nothing was as good as the good ol days back in the 40's and fifties when everything was in black and white, the wife had dinner on the table for the 2.5 kids and blah blah... That is unless you were black, or a woman... Or go back a little further... Anyone hear of the wildwest?Where you took the law in your own hands? Let alone 1000 years ago, where life was held with no regard. If you wanted someone's wife, and you were bigger and stronger, you killed him and took her. Ie the animal kingdom. We are after all just animals. No, this is by far the most civilized man has ever been. Oh, ibtl

I don't think this world has ever had a lack of stupid people acting on emotion rather than common sense. Not a fan of devolution theories and ironically at least from a technology standpoint were talking about the world being a worse place when this camera wasn't even thought of 25 year ago. I do agree however that this technology has made it possible for unthinkable things to be captured for posterity which is not necessarily a good thing. JMHO

My Grandfather used to tell me there was nothing good about the "good ole days". He would tell me "the good ole days" are now. Everything from food, restaurants, cars, health care, homes, etc, etc are much better now. He always told me, those old men sitting around in coffee and donut shops, talking about the "good ole days" were full of "bunk".
He would often tell me, as we would be having a beer together (which he said was much better now) while sitting on the beach in Miami, that the women looked much better now than back in the "good ole days".

I think that, as time goes on, we trade one set of problems for another. Some things vastly improve, and other things get worse. I didn't watch the vid, but that's my take in general on the world's state of affairs.

I truly believe that the world today (as a whole, not just the US ) is a significantly better place than, say, 60 years ago. Less poverty, technology bringing people together and allowing previosuly underdeveloped areas to catch up, and a lot more focus on environmental issues, et cetera. I do however believe that Europe and the US face some serious challenges.

I think it has always been this way, but thanks to television and the internet videos like these are more readily available for the world to see thus giving rise to the thought "The world is bad."

People are the problem, that's how i see it. The popularization of violence in games and television, movies and other things, the abandonment of morals and principles in the society.

"In terms of style, swim with the current. In matters of principle, stand like a rock."

Besides, Detroit, Michigan, Flint, Michigan and Saginaw, Michigan have been this way since the 1960's. You get shot going down 275 or driving on 8 Mile.

Agree wholeheartedly with your second paragraph James.

Just think, it wasn't but a hundred years or so ago, where when you did something stupid you died. Now imagine two, or five hundred years ago.

It's harder to die now so the stupid gene gets passed on...

Edited to add:

This is a small sub-set of my zoo theory.

Picture an animal, any animal. The mother does not feed or kicks out one of her pups, chicks, or whatever out of the nest/hive/burrow.. She instinctively knows that the pup, chick, or whatever will not survive in the wild. The consequences of that are that the pup, chick, or whatever will die and not propagate.

Things such as access to healthcare, technology, education and other stuff are more available ... for some ... but values such as hard work, kindness, honor, etc. are going down the drain and are being replaced by entitlement and superficiality.

As per violence ... it's human nature. Dangerous place out there ... if things are under control it is because of fear of consequences, not because people are better.
