Icon6 Meet "SloMo" From Pacific Beach, CA

People who frequent the strand of Pacific Beach, have seen the man known as "SloMo".

I thought you may find him and his story interesting. Below is a link to his documentary -- it has a great overall message, enough to captivate me for 15 minutes, twice.

Time stamp: 12:48 = "Do what you want to".
Time stamp: 10:54 = "What we in America call a$$holes".
Time stamp: 03:05 = (I won't spoil it for you)

That was great videography - especially the closing sequence. Ironically, his story could only be described as a "first world problem" solved. Glad he worked out his malaise. I think doing the same thing every day - whether it was healing or rollerblading - would burn me out, too.

That is a fascinating video, so beautifully done.

In a way, I feel that this guy is where I am in life.

I'm at a stage that I do what I like and I keep life as simple as possible.

For me it's bowling. It's a way to keep challenges in my life in a sport so nuanced that no one reaches their full potential. There's always room for improvement and maintenance of the skills is a long term exercise.

In the case of SloMo, he's a scientist, so that he can analyze his sport, understand it both from a technique and a physiological perspective and find something that not only fulfills his own needs, but has also made himself into a celebrity of sorts with his unusual style.

I once asked myself if my compulsion to bowl was healthy and if there were true benefits to being so involved.

I concluded that bowling provides personal challenge, structure, and social interaction. These in my opinion are the essentials of a healthy mind and spirit. If I keep it up, I'll surely live until I die, which is more than you can say for some people's lives.

A very inspirational video. It gives me hope.

Thanks for posting.

He was featured in the NY Times about a month ago. I think he is very 'true'. To give it all up and follow what your mind and heart need is the greatest act of personal belief in oneself and courage. However, remember that he had no real attachments at the time but his material possessions.

I missed this the first time around , wonderful.

I didn't know about these videos, I just let them run, the Marine getting home for his sisters wedding, a daughter realising why her mother shopped in a thrift shop, blind beauty. I smiled at the free hugs video, and the lady that heard for the first time in 40 years was heart warming.

But…………This was incredible.

I hope this doesn't hi jack a wonderful thread, with a wonderful beginning. If it does I apologise and send you back to the OPs original video which is truly inspirational.

Inspiring. This video link should be in the retirement discussion as well.

Funny, I have a drummer friend we call SloMo, but that's because he's always late to gigs.

great message. BUT. im sure its a lot easier for someone with his financial background to just "stop" and do what he wants for the rest of his life. Im assuming he quit as a millionaire...
