Did I score at my AD today?
Hey guys, wanted to share my experience at my local AD (the one we all know). I've been contemplating the idea of buying a Rolex for my wife so we decided to go to the store this afternoon just to look and try a couple of watches to get a feel of what she likes. I know she was always in love with the Datejust Roman and oyster, but I suggested a bigger face Rolex since she is used to big watches, so we started looking at the sports line and then there it was..... a Black dial Milgauss that right when she tried it on, she didn't want to take it off. Obviously the red wine they offered me slowly but surely opened my wallet without me even knowing. So we went over the numbers on the Datejust at $6.6k and then the Milgauss that was $7,650 which was out of the question but at the same time I didn't want to kill my wife's vibe as she was very excited, and I also didn't want to extend my budget more than what I originally had in mind. so, out of nowhere the manager introduces himself and says...by the way guys today we have a special price on this Milgauss since is the last one and you can take it home for $5,850. I was in such good mood and with that price I had to pull the trigger. so my question is, is it normal for ADs to discount about 24% on a SS watch just like that? I know that there is basically no negotiation on SS models. I appreciate your input!!! PS. the only issue is that they have to hold the watch until Friday to process the sale. Wife is super happy and can't wait until then. I'll post some pic when we pick it up.!!!

Congratulations on the new Milgauss...it sounds like you got a great deal!
When people typically discuss the difficulty in obtaining discounts on SS models they are referring more specifically to the Submariner, GMT and Daytona. ADs are more likely to negotiate on slower-selling (or slightly less popular) models like the EXP, EXPII and Milgauss. Either way, 24% is an excellent discount on that watch...you did great!

Yes, that is a good deal. What is the serial number? It is possible that it has been sitting in the case for a while and he simply wanted to move it. It is a volume game, if you don't sell enough watches, Rolex will cut you off.

That's a very good AD price, or even grey price. Some top sellers have been offering them on TRF at just under 7k recently.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I don't even like the Milgauss and I think I would have bought it at that price and then try to flip it.

I made a cash offer last weekend on a 216570 black dial here in CT and could not get the AD to come down even 10% off. I haven't decided yet but I might be buying two watches to get the discount I want. Apparently ExpII are big sellers around here contrary to what people say on the forums.
Congrats on your Milgauss and to answer your question, a discount on a S/S any model is not the norm around these parts and I have found with some AD's it's timing. |

I think this type of discounting will become the new normal.

Thanks guys!!, that's what they said. I have to pick it up on Friday maybe it was because they we're only able to do the discount on a certain date but didn't want to lose a potential customer. I forgot to see the serial tag, but I called the store and he said it was a 2014 without a doubt. Happy wife happy life!! wrist shots coming soon!!

If discounts like this do become the new normal with smaller AD's I think we'll be seeing more Rolex Boutiques and less AD's

The full price they quoted you is very close to the GV AD price here in HK. |

Did I score at my AD today?
The black dial Milgauss is being discontinued with the new blue dial taking its place so the AD was probably clearing inventory. You received a great deal. Sometimes it's about luck and timing :). Congrats!

Why did they have to hold it until Friday? I've never heard of that.
