GMT President very cool! Now thats something I've only heard of but never seen.

I think there's considerable confusion here

All this talk of maxi-dials and cases and clasps and lug holes implies that you don't really mean "GMT-Master I or II?" but "GMT-Master... ceramic or not?"

The GMT-Master II came out in 1983.

Non-ceramic II without holes for me - Comprises classic with modern perfectly imo, and coupled with all the bracelet and bezel options it's probably the best watch in the world.

A Series SEL w lugs. I think this is an iconic watch- true to its character and history as an pioneer of the two time zone international tool watch. I do not like the new ceramic and the PCL of the 116710 and I feel like it has strayed far from its roots- unlike the new SubC which did not. The versatility of the 16710 is a major plus. Plus I do love the bezel flexibility.

I love having the maxi case and maxi dial but I I'd go with old school master I.

I prefer the GMT-II, non-ceramic version, over the GMT-I. That independent hour hand makes it easier to set the time.

I like them all but prefer the - II Cs.
- Better bracelet
- Better bezel (subjective of course)
- Improved (very slightly) movement
- EasyLink
- And better proportioned to my eye with the new case

Love the new ones, prefer the old ones. I see the new ones and I think "damn, that's gorgeous!" ... then I see the old ones and think "that's perfect."

+1. And if you're looking for the GMT 2's 3185 movement function (jump hour hand) consider the Explorer 2, another hard-wearing sports watch.

I have been drooling for a GMT II since 1983 -- I was 13. I can remember trying it on at Changi Airport, before flying back to the States. For decades, every time I went back, I would stop in to look, but never buy...

I really think it will be the next one...

When I see the BLNR next to an older BLRO I am convinced that something I wrote awhile ago is true. The BLNR will be the most sought after GMT of all time.

I would lie if I said that hash´t crossed my mind. Selling all Rolexes, etc - and buy the BLRO. I have a feeling that I probably would have had regrets after a while. Who "needs" just one watch.
