So I sold my last Rolex...
After a couple years of flipping, I have decided I need to step back and count some blessings. Finding out the things I like and dislike in watches has been fun, and I'm sure when I finally spring for a new watch, I'll be hitting up one of my favorite trusted sellers and buying a keeper. Hopefully my wife does it for my 30th birthday and I'll finally hold onto another watch. The only one I haven't flipped is the Carrera Twin Time she bought me for our wedding.
What drove me to sell was a new motorcycle, and I absolutely thrilled with my decision. I was debating between a Yamaha R1, a Kawasaki ZX-10R ABS, and the BMW S1000RR as a stretch. I hit a few dealerships, talked numbers, and played them against each other. I would up getting a few hundred more dollars for my trade-in, and I got the optional ABS for $1300 less than their advertised "sale price" on the Kawi ZX-10R. It's going to be the first liter bike I've owned, but not the first I've ridden. I spent 7 seasons on my R6, and I felt like now is the time to upgrade. I got the "whatever you like, dear" from the wife, once she realized that the money I'm spending after the trade-in is less than I've spent on most of my watches. Here's the best I can do right now as far as pics, a stock image: I'm awaiting the imminent arrival of my R6's title, to finalize the trade and pick up my bike within the next few days/ |

Looks great Bill, you'll probably be zipping by me on the Schuylkill expressway when I'm down visiting my daughter!
I'd put an fender eliminator on that ride and call it a day!

Had an original ZX-10 from the late '80s. It was a hoot to ride. The newer ones (R) are like crack. Liter bikes with 750 feel. Just great bikes.

It's going to be tough not having an everyday watch to wear, and I'm going to be really jealous when I see other Rolexes in the wild. Hell, the guy that runs the pizza shop I got to has two-tone Datejust. Bikes have always been a passion since I was young(er) and I've just been too caught up and careless with my watch buying. Cooling off for a year or so will help me focus on what's important. I'm going to be pretty grouchy when I'm winterizing my bike with no watch on my wrist! Thanks for the kind words, you guys are awesome. I'll still be around, voting on "this or that" threads and telling people it's OK to shower with their Rolex on! |

Here it is! I left work early yesterday to pick it up. I already did about 60 miles on it yesterday alone. It feels like a dream compared to my old bike. The biggest thing I noticed was functional mirrors. I've never had a bike where the mirrors didn't vibrate to death and point at my elbows.

Ride it like you stole it!
I have an R1, but you can't go wrong with any modern sportbike these days. Aprilia, BMW, Kawi, Yamaha, Suzuki (ok, lets all admit Suzuki's attract a higher percentage of squids - and you Gixxer owners know what I'm talking about) Enjoy! |

I just remembered this thread existed. I can't believe I went so long without a watch on my wrist, but now I have the best of both worlds- a Daytona on my wrist and a ZX-10R in the garage
