Explorer II

Hi,

Recently, I purchased a 216570 Explorer II and I would like to thank DavidSW for a flawless transaction. He was amazing to deal with and it is great to know that there are trusted sellers out there If you need any watches I would highly recommend him.

Ok now onto the watch. I was looking at a few different watches. First of all I have an Omega Seamaster Professional 300M which is a great watch but things like lack of micro adjust on the bracelet are a big deal to me. This is a great piece that I like to wear out and about to nice high end events since it is a small size.

Now I also have an Oris Aquis Diver. I know that many people look past this brand but I think that it is a great watch. It is my every day wear watch.

The things I wanted in a watch was the following. An automatic in house movement. My opinion is if you are spending more than $5k on a watch you should have an in house movement. I also wanted a date. This is a must for me I also wanted something that have more brushed surfaces. So I didn't want polished center links. Also wanted a GMT hand.

So, I was looking at 3 brands for my next purchase. Either a Rolex, a Panerai, or another Omega. Omega got crossed off of the list fast just because I don't really like what they are doing with their watches. I like the Coaxial escapement but other than that I am not a huge fan. Plus they seem to loose their value very quickly.

I also looked at Panerai. Now I went and tried on one of their watches in my local AD and I wasn't impressed. The winding on their manual wind piece wasn't great. The construction was good but this particular watch was $15k and I couldn't imagine spending that. I really like the Panerai 8 Day GMT but it just wasn't what I wanted.

So the last brand was Rolex. I looked at the Sub and also the BLNR and the Explorer II. I liked the Sub but when I went and tried it on it was very close to my SMP and I didn't necessarily want that again. Plus I wanted something that was a little more rare. I love the sub and it will probably be my next purchase or a BLNR. I also looked at the BLNR and it really was a great watch but I just wasn't sold on all of the polished surfaces. I then saw a Explorer II in Black and tried it on. It was perfect in every way. I went home that day. Paypal'd DAVIDSW and I had the watch in my hand a few days later due to it being the weekend.

I will post up some more pics later but for now here are some pics with it. I will update this with a full review later.

Thanks!

Great choice. I picked up my polar exp 2 last weekend. I actually traded in my SMP 300 ceramic for it. I decided to keep my Subc instead of the SMP.

Congrats, the 216570 is a great watch.

I agree with you on the Oris Aquis Diver, its a very good value watch, mine's the black dial with black ceramic bezel.

Yep mine too! I wear it every day and even though some think It's cheap, $1k on a watch is a lot and I can wear it without second thought! I love it! :). To me every watch has a purpose!

Congrats - great choice. I love mine. Have only seen one other Exp II (216570) in the wild and it was a Polar.

The 216570 Explorer is a super watch and probably one of the best at the moment, particularly given the good prices they are going for! Enjoy!
