Hi guys,

If you have some snow and cold weather to spare, would you please send some of it my way?

Tempeatures in NZ have reached as high as 38 C in some places. Auckland was a sizzling 30 C (86 F) yesterday. There's just no escaping this blasted heat!!

You call 30 C hot? You are a WIMP!!!

Try 40C in DC in July or August. Washington used to be called a hardship post for the diplomatic corps because of the summer heat.

We did invent this new fangled contraption to counter the heat, though. It's called air conditioning. Works really well during the hot times of the year. Maybe we'll export it to the wilds of NZ in a few years.

Al, you and Jacqui were here in the very first week of December...usually quite cool at the time. The real heat starts between mid-Jan. to mid-Feb. and can carry on sometimes until first week of March.

When you've lived in a country like NZ which has a mean temperature of 23 C during summer and 14 C during winter, 30 C is bloody HOT!!
