Cyclops or Non?

I'm considering doing a few modifications to my everyday "beater" Sub 16610. I bought it head only without bracelet for something that could be worn is any situation. I wear it on NATO's and rubber and love that sporty look. After having the watch for a few months I now want to have a little fun with it. I purchased a Yachtmaster red second hand and am now considering putting a roulette or red date wheel to match. If the date wheel is switched I don't want the red number to stick out so I would like to remove the cyclops to give it a SD look. I'll be keeping all the original parts if the mods wear on me and I want to return it to the original look. But will I regret removing the cyclops? I do like the cyclops and think its on of those Rolex only features that makes a watch pop.

I would regret because I like it a lot. If you like it too then don't do it.

Except for the person looking straight at the dial, the cyclops might actually make the colored date wheel less noticeable maybe?

Love the idea of the red hand and the date wheel but to me the cyclops is iconic

I love the cyclops! Don't remove it! The red will look awesome with the dome.

It depends on your age. The older you get the more you appreciate the Cyclops.

Cyclops has a mythological heritage, and, moreover, really gives the Sub a feature that differentiates it from many of the homage watches like Invicta and Omega, etc. Plus, as another member pointed out, as you get older, the magnification is quite useful.

Off, off! I took mine off my GMT II, much better IMHO.

They should've put it inside, like TAG Heuer.

I wouldn't remove the eagle eye in your case. I'm not a fan of how it looks in pictures but for everyday functionality it really is a blessing for bad eyes everywhere.

lost the cyclops!

Ferdelious
Lose the cyclops for a smooth crystal is a joy!. Two days ago I traded my
Ceramic Submariner for a Sea Dweller 4000 for TWO reasons
Sub lugs are out of proportion to the case and I really dislike the cyclops...
both issues solved with the Sea Dweller!
Good Luck & post some pix!!

If you do you can always replace the crystal...

I definitely appreciate the cyclops more and more each year. If only the sub-dials on the Daytona had cyclopses (tri-clops?).

Just keep the cyclops. It looks cool and you will most likely regret it. You will also have problems should you ever sell or trade it without a cyclops
