Service Question

My 16710LN is up for service, but I have a few concerns. What is the typical turnaround time for a full service and what is performed on the watch? I have called around in the Indianapolis area and have been told it could take anywhere between 4 and 8 weeks. Does this seem right?

I'm mostly worried about what I will wear in the mean time! Unfortunately my GMT is the only luxury watch in my collection.

Looking forward to your responses.

Find a watchmaker with a good reputation.

A good one will take the movement completely apart, clean and check all parts for tolerance, and replace any questionable parts - expendables - and those out of tolerance.

Others will only disassemble to major components, sonic clean those, and then reassemble without replacing anything. Then they will tell you that "everything looked good inside" giving you the illusion that there was no wear at all; an impossibility..

My RSC just serviced my SD,and the turn around was 3 weeks. The watch was completed after 2 weeks and the final week was for testing and calibrating.

They take everything apart, clean it, change the gasket seals, call you if anything is worn out (what you want to do), then test and calibrate it. 4 to 5 weeks, with the last week for quality control.
