Do you keep the crown screwed...

when you keep your watches in their box (after they stopped) or not?
What do you reckon?

Thanks.

I would always keep the crown screwed in and i would unscrew it only if i wanted to set the time date or manually wind the watch

Yes, I always keep the crown on all my watches completely screwed in whether they are running or have stopped.

The only time I would have the crown unscrewed is when I'm manually winding the watch or adjusting the time and date.

I heard that just splashing your watch even with the crown unscrewed will not harm it as there are rings and seals inside of the tube that you cannot see. What will really get water in though is if the watch is placed directly underwater with the crown unscrewed.

While I heard this, that doesn't mean that I will experiment with it though.

Exactly.

Which goes back to why I posed that question, why would one leave it unscrewed in the first place? I just don't see the benefit.

i had my oyster 6694 crown pop out whilst showering (i was actually drying off) and i could see the acrylic fogging up instantly... makes me think either my gaskets are busted or the crown needs to be screwed in for max waterproof.

My electric (quartz) watches are stored with their crowns out to save battery life.

Battery will last 7-12 years, depending on how often it's worn.

Definitely!
I believe that your watch (indeed all Oysters) are waterproof to 25m with the winder crown unscrewed and pulled out - again, due to the internal gaskets.
The red bits are the gaskets.

Why leave the watch with the screw out, dust and moisture ingress cannot be good. Just me but is this not why old Hans designed it.
