Now that we've gotten the official word on it today, I doubt I will be getting one. Simply put it doesn't do anything my phone doesn't already do, and my wrist is already occupied by my Rolex. So where would it go, in my pocket with my phone? No point.

Watched the whole presentation. It's basically a smaller version of the phone that's already in my pocket or on my desk. I don't really see the benefit or need.

Ill trade in my iPhone 5 for a 6 (4.7 inch) in a few weeks when things calm down a bit. The Apple watch? Ill likely get it for my two teens first to see if they like it. They love the gadgets! In 2 years when the new model with all of the fixes to the issues they will soon discover comes out, then Ill decide. Even, still perhaps only for the gym or very casual settings.

Nothing will ever replace my BLNR!!! NEVER!

My thinking exactly, it seems like a device which is more useful the more it is in use. My cousin assures me I will one day put down my Rolex & only wear it on special occasions. I hardly ever take it off now, I don't want that to change & to be honest I can't see myself changing any time soon. However if I do feel like I want to give my Rolex a break I may get the Apple watch as a watch to wear as a beater!

It's hideous and brings nothing new to the table that already hasn't been released in the last 18 months, I used to look forward to these releases by Apple, but TBH they have become much of a muchness. Just my watered down opinion.

Considering the nearly unlimited research & development funds at their disposal, one would hope that Apple doesn't leave the water sport lovers behind. Not that I care either way, as I have no desire to share my heartbeat while swimming with the rest of the world or being wired 24/7, but I wonder if the current leadership goes the extra mile ;-)

when I went to ATT to buy an iPhone 6, the salesman was wearing an apple phone.
very nicely designed. the review above pointed out by Rondineli is most informative and interesting...and one of the items, I absolutely did not know is that for the most part the Apple Phone is tethered to an iPhone....big negative for me. Also, the idea of playing music or getting email on a "smartphone" is just, well, ridiculous.

That said, these smartphones will evolve, and as they do, the traditional watch market will be impacted. No sense in sticking one's head in the proverbial sand, just because one has a bias toward mechanical, traditional watches.

I am always skeptical of "reviews" that don't have one single negative pointed out. That link sounded like a 5 page marketing piece, not a review. Based on that article I am quite surprised the human race has survived without the apple watch...thank god its coming or we would be doomed.

You keep saying Apple phone but you're talking about the watch, right?

As far as the watch being tethered to the phone, I can't imagine these things selling if they weren't, and instead were a stand alone device. The only real thing the watch has going for it is the "convenience" of telling you what's going on with your phone without having to reach into your pocket and pull it out.

More seriously, I was search-surfing the goldmine of old messages on various topics, thinking about the impact of smart watches upon the WIS world. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, it seems to me that at least one thing is certain: Amazingly (or perhaps not), there was NO real impact. Am I now drawing a correct conclusion to what was still a fairly open question just a few years ago?
