Need help !

Hey guys, I'm new here, so first of all nice to meet you !!

I have always loved Rolex, not for what it means as a status but for what the quality and perfection they have strived for, I had always wanted one going up and when I earned my US Coast Guard Captains Lic, in 2001 my father gave me a TT DJ, (it was a couple years old, we got it from a freind of ours in the "business" who has dealt with Preowned Rolexes for many years.
This brings me to part of my question,
I'm sending it in for it's first service (since 2001) and I have a couple of questions........
I'm sending it to RUSA,
When I bought it was a jubilee but I wanted a oyster bracelet, so I had the dealer swap my original jubilee for an Oyster bracelet, It has a TT GMT kind (with flip lock) 78360 (401b) it this the same bracelet as on the DJ originally ? Doesn't the DJ oyster style not have a flip lock ? It that the only difference in the DJ oyster band and a 78360 ?
if so will Rolex replace my clasp with a DJ style clasp and not the flip lock ? Do I ask them too ? Make since ?
Also it's a tritium and it has started to dim (a lot) well they repaint these ? Do I need to tell them or will they do it automatically ? That has caused my hands to start turning, will they change these automatically or do I have to request it?

I think that's it, THANKS !
I'll try and post a pic.......

Well first the bracelet is not off a GMT because bracelets on those were plain Oysterlock and ref 78793.The fliplock is only on the Sub and SD range, and the ref 78360 is correct for the DJ but someone has added a non standard fliplock.Expect Rolex USA would change it and charge for it regarding dial you could have that changed, but again at a a price.Must say watch has quite a hard life and pictures are not the best but should polish up fine.Normally I would advise not to change the dial especially on sports watches like subs etc but on the normal DJ it should not be a problem.

Yeah I did ;) but I want an "correct" non flip lock, is it the clasp all thats different or is the entire bracelet different ?

Will Rolex put on the correct clasp during service ?

When talking to them about the dial and hands, be careful what you ask for. I'm not sure if they will re-paint tritium dials, but I'm pretty sure that if you ask for a replacement they'll replace the dial with Superluminova dials, which would probably affect the potential re-sale value of the piece. Same goes with the hands. I for one, would try to keep things as original as possible.

Welcome Perry,

That's quite a mixed bag of maybes yo have ....

If the parts are all Rolex, there may be some areas where Rolex will not require changes... Your pic appears to be of the long Sub style clasp..

I am sure that they will replace the clasp if you ask them, but be prepared for sticker shock.

The dial and hands can also be replaced if you want, although as has been said, the value of most older watches is in the originality of the dial and hands.. They will require them to be replaced if they are deteriorating and they no longer "paint" any tritium dials or hands. They just replace them with Luminova replacements.

Rolex NY will evaluate your watch and provide an itemized list of what it needs, and a list of what they think you should do. They might not service it at all if you do not agree to the "needs" list, but you can usually decide which of the others you want. It helps them if you provide your own list of what you want done.

great thanks ! Any ideas as to cost on a clasp ? I typed my letter with the items listed as well requested a full service. Is there any number in my serial that tells my watch was orignal jubilee not oyster ?
