Diving with a leather strap?

I've been checking out the two Tudor Heritage Black Bays and does it seem crazy to put leather straps on a diver's watch? I mean I really like the look of the straps, especially the red, but I would think that water, especially salt water, would very easily ruin leather bands after a few dives. To me, the Pelagos got it right by having both titanium bracelet and rubber strap, but leather on the Black Bay just sounds like trouble.

I get what your saying but obviously that's not the point of the distressed leather on this piece. I have one with said leather and love it. If, I imagine Tudor thinks so to, u intended on swimming or diving use the bracelet or a water friendly strap.

Leather rigging and straps are what was used on dive gear before the "invention" of modern molded rubber, you just had to take proper care of it.

Of course, as mentioned, today the look of a leather strap is the point and not the practicality of it..

With the option of nato, rubber, and/ or metal bracelet no reason to deal with leather for diving. If not diving, leather adds one more option.
