So CA is home or Belgium is home? Are you going for U.S. citizenship?

Always gonna be a little bit of Belgian Marc :D but now going for my Green Card

US Citizen is only possible after living 10 years in the USA . . . but that will be the next step . . . from that day I will be a real American

But the Immigration process is so complicated . . . first invest and than they'll see if you get a Visum . . . . if . . .

So for a lot of people I personally know : money bye bye and no Visum

I had a Immigration Attorney, what is recommended, but he just took my money . . . . for doing really nothing at all . . .

So I did everything myself with the result that I got my Visum !

I had a file delivered of over 500 pages 2 weeks ago at the US Embassy in Brussels

Today actually I am a little bit proud since I was the first one who received a Visum without using a Imm Att the Consul told me at the interview

So if someone on TRF ever needs some help . . . . send a PB

Now I can say : been there . . . done it . . .

Friday I can pick up our new passports with the magic visum stamp . . . .
Saturday morning 09:35 . . . BRU -> LAX

Now I can relax and have my Duvel ;)

CA . . . . I am back !

You could always just join the US military.

Well, it's not quite that simple, but that's the first real big step.

I did my service in Belgium . . . . when I was young and beautiful . . . so really long ago ;-)

Once in my life in the Army is more than enough

It might be an option . . . but not for me . . . maybe when I was 20 . . .

For the moment Immigration wants to see more than 300 k USD wired into Escrow or your Business Account (depending on the type of visum you are going for - ranging from A to Z - so you also need the one that suites your situation the best) for a European Investor with detailed proof / evidence where the money comes from . . . .

Problem here is the opening of a Business account as a non Redident / Alien since you got no SSN . . . so here the fun already starts . . .

And than you need to go through a pain full list of docs all stated with other proof and requirements that seems to be endless . . .

Money first . . . .

Anyway we made it but got several friends that were not allowed due to . . . . ?

Tell me about it Marc.

It took me 6 years and $48,000 to get a green card which turned out to be pink.

You just wait and see, unless they've changed color again.

So now you have to get a DL?

Congratulations, Marc !!! My sister married a gentleman from Holland and after they lived in the Netherlands for some years they decided to move back to the States.
I couldn't believe the hoops he had to jump through and the money it cost to get here. All this with US citizen wife.

Have a good trip back to CA, Marc. Too bad you'll have to leave all that good Belgian beer behind. After all, you can only bring so much with you.

Now that you've got your "green" card, if you can also get Global Entry, you'll be good to go.
