Lost Small Pearl on Submariner Bezel :(

Hi guys

I just realised that I'm missing the small pearl button on the bezel of my submariner date....

Anyone knows how much it costs to replace and whether Rolex Service centre can replace the pearl only or they have to replace the whole bezel?

Thanks

116610 or 16610? Very different answers.

It used to be the case that, with the ceramic bezels, the pip could not be replaced and the whole bezel assembly needed to be replaced, but Rolex developed a tool to do the job. It shouldn't cost much more than replacing the pip on an aluminum bezel Sub. Call RSC HK and inquire.

Thanks, hope they won't have to change the whole bezel.
Will go to Rolex service centre in Central next week.

If it can be physically done, they will do it. RSC HK replaced the pearl on my 5513 recently.

They now have a special tool at the RSC and pearls can be now replaced on the ceramic but know idea of the price for replacement far but cheaper than the whole bezel.

That even a CW21 watchmaker can change it on a 16610 but a 116610 needs to go to an RSC to be done by Rolex who are likely the only ones who have the special tool. Any body else will likely tell you need a whole new bezel of which on ceramic models you need a special press to reapply the ceramic bezel back. Where on the older model you could just snap the bezel off and replace it with plain hands.

Needless to say the newer one is much more complicated and expensive. That's how different.

Would this ever be covered by warranty?

Quick update: went to Rolex centre in Hong Kong (Central) yesterday. The lady was very knowledgeable and told me they will change only the "pearl" for few hundreds HKD (cheap). No need to change the entire bezel. This isn't covered by the warranty, only the inside she said.
More updates next week when I'll pick up my watch.

Last update as promised. Went to Rolex centre to pick up my watch.
Basically they changed the pearl + tiny metal ring around it.
Cost me HKD505 (around USD65) so not that cheap I think.

A relatively painless experience. I think $65 ish is pretty good considering that at one point you would have had to change the entire bezel. Glad it all worked out for you.

Sounds about right. Did you pick up a copy of the Rolex Mag when you were there?

Strange that something like that would not be covered by warranty, especially when there wasn't any visible damage to the area. Is it typical to make someone pay for such a thing when watch is still under warranty?

Haven't picked up a copy of the Rolex mag, is it any good? I have a big catalogue from an AD already.

Regarding warranty they told me only the inside part are covered :(

Yes, it's currently on issue #3. Quite sought after. There's usually a stack under the reception desk, so you have to ask.

65$ is pretty cheap considering the cost of a new bezel !

Good to know this, and sounds quite reasonable! I would've guessed it would cost a lot more.

Thanks for posting the outcome. At $65.00 I would be plenty happy to have it back to 100%.

Enjoy!

$65 for anything from Rolex is a bargain; take it and run!
