Wow, gorgeous. A re-case no doubt. Super cool to see such a crisp case. Can you give us a rundown of the overhaul?

Welcome to our thread. I started it to gather our Red Owners, and help those looking for a red 1680. We are here if you should have any questions.

3281-serial
MkIV
Said to be "untouched" and just worn occasionally
Open 6s and 9s but closed 26 - and brushed silver date wheel
10 link 9315 folded bracelet with "Pateted" typo - and 2 extra original bracelet links (one wide and one narrower)

Here's some images of the watch. Appologize for many images, but when in "love"...

Hi guys whats the deal with closed 26??

I have a 1970s RED sub Mk4 dial and noticed the closed 26 with others open 6 and 9s?? Can anyone expand the reason for the closed 26??

Andy.

I did a Google / Forum research a while back - and there is no logic explanation, Andy. Same as much else in the Rolex world.

Yes. A Mark4. One of the quick ways to tell is by the "f" and "t" in "ft". You will notice that the cross bar on those letters doesn't line up as it will on later dials

There is no Quick Set Date Adjustment on the 1680's. The quickest date feature did not come until later. The way to change the date is by continuing to forward the time past midnight until you eventually get to the date you need. This is why so many vintage owners never have the correct date showing in their watch. :-)

Very interesting and informative thread.

I am adding my Mark I here. Serial 2,18x,xxx with case back stamped II.69. The 6 on the date wheel is indeed closed although I am assured it is the original (I am fully aware that there is debate about this topic).
