Dial Restoration.

Hello Guy's.
Today I was in the sun and the light on my acylic crystal on my Oyster Perpetual Date , let me see that my dial is worn . I would like it restored . I was just wondering if it decreases value , also is anything replaced ? . If you think I should go for it , could someone tell me one that is in the London area.

From Alex .

PS : I probably will leave as is , But I was considering it.

Generally a refinished dial does diminish the value..

How much depends on the model and it's collectibility.

Here's the preferred options (for a collector)

. Original
. Replacement, period correct
. Refinish, high quality

If it is so far gone that the readabiity or functionality is affected, then a refinished dial can increase the value.

You might need a professional to evaluate your best options..

Alex, I would leave the dial as it is, if I were you. You vintage watch will be more valuable because of its character.

I agree! Let it age and take on its own character

Good dicision, alex. I leave my -Date- 1500 (circa 1947) still original dial. Even the dial look like moisture. Have many spots, like dust.

While I would agree with others original is best, but with models like non sports, or particular non rare Rolex 1960s on models. Then dial change is not going to devalue it dramatically, especially if you keep the old dial, and have the Rolex service papers saying dial was changed.
