I bought a couple of his SDs, but the 16660 was a gloss dial. He still had "most" of his 666 matte dials the last I knew

Nah. I'm not there yet. Recently acquired a 16570, but I haven't bought a watch for several months before that. I think I've got 3 or 4 left to go. Maybe by the end of 2015

A simple private message to Clay should provide the answer. Am I missing something here - what is the point of this thread?

I would say it's just a bit of friendly speculation amongst fellow enthusiasts. While admittedly not especially discreet, I'm sure there was no malice intended (ref. title of the thread), and it's pretty harmless, I think, especially given that our dear friend Clay is known for his beloved Sea Dwellers, which have been widely published - by him. One thing is for sure; anyone who may acquire one of his collection is very lucky, as they are all superb examples. I have often coveted them.

No ill intents, I loved his enthusiasms for his SD. I was just shocked to see that someone had put so much time, love and research into a series of watches and then sell them...

Yep. I was surprised to see him selling. He has/had an amazing collection of SDs and Mickeys. To me Clay is synonymous with SD collection.

I have been in contact with Clay. Yes he is selling many of his watches, he is well, whoever buys a Clay watch is fortunate to have a beautiful example, and he is missed around here.
