A little too much...

So...a little background. I had a Root Beer GMT-II back in the day That I have dreamed of replacing one day. Was in a friends jewelry store locally last night picking up a stocking stuffer for my wife (since I've given her all her big gifts already) lol. That's me. And they had an estate Root Beer in a case circa 1992 and wanted 8,000$ for it.

I was floored. It was in decent shape (faded bezel) but fairly good condition. Not sure WHY they would even price it that astronomically!!! I had my 116613lb on and kinda 'floated' out there I'd buy it for somewhere in the neighborhood of 5K...but didn't even get a bite...just thought it was interesting to see a well known jeweler price something like that - tha high...in my opinion.

Anyone else run into anything like that? Just curious.

It only takes one poorly informed person to make a sale. They'll find their mark -- it just won't be you.

I was a little floored to see it priced that high. I even had to say - good luck selling it for 8k! But you all are right - just takes one person who doesn't know what they're looking at to bite.

Any WIS would chuckle a little like I did when I saw the price tag!

I thought when I mentioned 5 I might have seen some interest - but when overpriced by that much - I didn't expect much.

Root Beers are going up in price due to limited availability, sound pricey if not in mint condition.
