I have also found some good deals on
shopgoodwill.com Not $6 to $35k but fair deals on nice pieces. Lot of junk to look thru though.
They do sometimes do some basic testing of metals and stones but it is most certainly buyer beware.

questions about whether goodwill should see a cut and the tax man's cut, but, why get bogged down in details when the story is that good.

All I have ever found at thrift stores are fakes. Lucky guy, too bad he couldn't just keep it and enjoy having something like that in his collection.
