Hang in there Wayne, grieve you loss and try to remember the good times. If you haven't been sent a copy or a link by a member here yet google the rainbow bridge, the story will help you I guarantee it. Be well.

We have been through this situation several times over the decades. Very difficult. My thoughts are with you.

I'm very sorry for your loss. As the caretaker of a pet you've made every decision regarding its life with compassion and thoughtfulness of its health and safety. One cannot help but to develop a deep attachment and the loss of that responsibility can be overwhelming.
Good luck. Pets mark our souls and the truly exceptional ones are never forgotten.

Excellent post Bill, put a lump in my throat thinking of the furry friends now gone but not forgotten...

It really hurts and many of us have been there. My hardest was saying goodbye to my tuxedo kitty, Cosmo Brown. I had him for 19 years starting at age 21. It gets better, though. And you're left with many happy memories.

Take it easy.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Our animal friends are family. It's really as simple as that. Losing family is always tough, but it's an inevitable point on the curve of the circle of life. Cherish the memories. After 17 years, I'm sure there were many.

So very sorry for your loss. As was said before, our pets are a part of our family and it hurts when they pass. My thoughts are with you at this time. They are never forgotten.

Take solace in the fact that you did the right thing by him. Many times our selfish nature gets in the way of what is right, and we keep them too long. It is an agonizing--but necessary and just--decision to make. Wishing you and your wife the best.

All dogs (and cats) go to Heaven....

Sorry for your loss.

We have been through this a number of time and it doesn't get any easier.

Our Westie Harris is 15 and pretty much blind and deaf but hasn't changes his nature.

I can see him slowing down each day.

I dread the day he is not waiting for his morning walk.

Best to you and your family.

Sorry for you loss.

I have a 5 year old dog, she is practically part of family.

Just get a new pet, not as a replecement, but to have new memories...

Sorry for your loss. We have lost several dogs over the years. 2 in the last year or so. It sucks and it never gets any easier when it happens. We still have a dog and the two cats and I dread the day that we loose another one. They make their mark on our hearts quickly and are gone way too soon.

It does get easier over time.
