I posted on 31st October 2013, my last day at work. I was concerned about my ability to walk past the AD..... well a walk into Seddiqi & Sons, Mall of the Emirates resulted in the urge... ordered and then received a new Submariner. It's my son's 21st in a couple of months. I hope that he enjoys a successful career once he graduates with a fine timepiece on his wrist.

When I asked him which model he would prefer he hesitated, unable to decide between the GMT II Bruiser and the Sub, he came back to me two days later requesting the Submariner if that was possible. Then declaring that he would be getting a Black/Blue.... when I die!

Both in the UK and the UAE, the Submariner was not easily available. I have been on the list in the UK for two month and it took a couple of weeks to locate in the UAE.

What next?

I work as a 1st responder for the Illinois Dept of transportation, I wear my submariner to work everyday.Name any thing from the mundane to catastrophic events that happen on the expressway, and i'll be there. A recently retired Illinois State trooper sergeant I worked with, wore his sub no/date on the job. He was in charge of the motorcycle cops, in district Chicago.

its not a new watch i need , i think its a new job ,,
omega dynamic 3 is my trusty work watch , most days ,, at the moment ,
but im working on a change for the older.

When I was on the road, I wore G-Shocks. More for the avoidance of jealousy from peers than damage on patrol.

I was a LEO from the mid 80's to the late 90's...Never could of afforded a Rolex while on the job. Now if i was back on, id wear my SubC no date...seems sturdy enough...The gold Sub would probably cause me to be under investigation!

23 year LEO here!!! In long sleeves I'll wear my Airking. Short sleeves, I wear a Swiss Army or vintage Seiko Auto diver on a rubber strap.

I have pretty thin weak wrists so that doesn't help!! I'm pretty well built but thin wrists seem to run in the family.

For me I'm a Security Specialist, hyped up term for Security Officer. Hey, it pays the bill's, well at least sometimes. I interface inside the office and outside the office , I have to investigate shipments coming in, and going out. The bad part is a constant array of doors opening up and closing. Being trucks or the office. I have a deep love to want to spend time with the watches that I really do love, but finally had to draw the line. And that line was not to wear anything that "I knew would get scratched, dinged, or forever defaced". I now wear one of my favorite divers, the world famous Seiko SKX007-J, a true workhorse, but, and I mean but, if it ever gets in the crossfire of doors latches, or just me being clumsy I can with grace handle it. I am currently in the process of shopping for a 14060M, not really there financially but looking. If you're a Police Officer, wear your watch for when you know that you can at least scratch it lightly, rather than do some damage. I have a saying with watches as I do with the work place. "If I had the money, I sure as hell wouldn't be here", treat your watches the same. I mean if you can afford a Rolex to replace another Rolex, sure go ahead, and wear it to work. What it all boils down to is, your love for a certain watch, and the common sense the good "Lord" gave you. Enjoy your decision, and be safe my friend.

Wore a GMT for 20 years every single day, work or no work. Finally retired that to the safe and now wear my new explorer I every single day. It's not too flashy, fits under the sleeve or coat and glows awesome at night. .
