A Black & White Question
I know that there are numerous Rolex dial colors to choose from among the many models available but for the sake of argument let's limit this discussion to only black and white dials on any given Rolex.
My interest is in which color dial do you prefer when you're dressing up for a night on the town and which dial do you prefer for casual, everyday, just hanging out types of situations? |

I can't vote because the beauty of these watches is they can all dress up or down I don't think the dial color makes them more dress or more sport |

With SS Daytona I prefer the black for looks, although it is not as legible for us older folk. I have a meteorite dial that is kinda light grey and not the easiest to read, but looks great.
IMO, white is easiest to read but not my favorite as far as visual impact. |

No argument there. Love that Exp II Polar as an everyday watch.

I'm thinking of two watch combo's that I'd like to own eventually...just throwing my ideas out there.
DJ II white stick dial and either Explorer II black dial or Tudor Pelagos. or DJ II black stick dial and Explorer II Polar. or Explorer I (39mm) and Explorer II Polar. |

I think the answer to the dress/sport question entails more than just the dial color.
Bezel?, bracelet, case, etc.

The Explorer I crosses over nicely. The Exp II more sport. DJ is dress.
IMHO

My choices reflect what I own: a white dial TT DJ and a black dial GMTII. While I wear both on casual occasions, the DJ is always my choice for dress up.

I've actually tried it on at an AD. It is beautiful but I just can't get my head around having a blue dial watch. My tastes generally run to black, white, and silver.

White dial for dress and black dial for sport is my preference, but would be fine with either of these combinations for dress and sport.

I agree. I could see myself with a DJ II white dial smooth bezel for dress and an Exp II black dial for sport just as well as a DJ II black dial smooth bezel for dress and a Exp II Polar for sport. Not sure which combo I like better.

I tend to gravitate toward black dials for sport and dress but there are exceptions of course depending on particular models and manufacturers.
