I'm in NYC, but still wouldn't call the GMT, or any Rolex for that matter, common. I might need to upgrade my circle of friends! I think it looks great.

I don't mean anything offensive to those of you who find my statement of hating the watch to be negative. I merely dislike that I see many a Rolex on the wrists of people in the city I live in and the circles I am a member of. I guess I've been fortunate in that regard. However I can also somewhat numb to what could be the case elsewhere.

But again I reiterate, I do also LOVE the watch.

That's fine. Your opinion is your opinion. Here in Hong Kong it's not about circles, though. All kinds of people have them, including bus drivers and shop assistants. If ubiquity puts you off somewhat, you'd probably never want to wear one again if you spent a week here.

This is true as well. Although it is fun to see what the watch loving community is interested in and why people love the watches they have.
