I believe the black dial Milgauss has already been phased out but this has not led to a rise in its price in the secondhand market.

Where I used to work, we had a limited edition of the product. Our motto "The quantity is limited to how many we can sell!"

Say it ain't so!
My AD just put me on the list to get one. He thought it might take a few months as they never know how many they will get in any given month. They didn't get any this month....take that for what it's worth.

AFAIK, it is not discontinued. However, after I purchased mine, my AD mentioned that she did not think she would get another one for at least 6 months. Keep in mind that I asked her for a D-Blue, and she was not pursuing me to sell one. I believe that the distribution is fairly limited right now, but I'm sure you can get one if you look hard enough. FYI, my parents went on a Caribbean cruise and saw one in the case in Grand Cayman.

According to Forbes, the D-Blue is a special/limited edition.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/arielada...-his-new-film/ Rolex new CEO Jean-Frederic Dufour is no stranger to limited edition watches. I can imagine the struggle in Rolex, would they really stop production of a watch that is selling so well?

To sum up my opinion. Rolex wants buyers to think it is a limited edition in order to sell more of them. But it is "limited" only to create a sense of scarcity to spur buyers - much like the SS Daytona. I think without the D-Blue, the DSSD watch would languish. So if you love the watch, get one. But if your desire is stimulated by it being rare, you are being manipulated.

Just got back from Basel: the two Deepsea were in exhibition side to side, so I'd say that the D-Blue will live at least another year :-)

The NYC Rolex Boutique is still taking orders. If someone wants one, a deposit is taken, and you will get one when your time comes. There IS a wait list with Clients wanting to buy the Deep Sea Blue! |

I felt the same, didn't even consider it thought it looked gimmicky and cheap compared to my black dial DSSD...that was until I actually saw it in the flesh, I can't stop looking at it when I wear it, it's so different to anything else, dial is beautiful and the green Deepsea pops the same way the red or double red submariner does.

Normally I would have agreed that this is probably unreliable info, but right now I'm not so sure. Rolex have dropped a few surprises in recent times, and maybe this is another? Maybe they just ran up a limited number of these dials to test the market and now have a very low stock? Pity they also had not offered it up in the Sub or SD - here's hoping!

Get someone you know to call that AD up and try and place an order for it. I would bet that this guy who was told to "stop taking orders" will happily tell them that he can get one and they should come into the store to put a deposit down.

Yes...since January it's been "limited"....lets revisit this thread in the summer and see where we're at. Lots seem to be gambling on this rather than just get the watch you like and love, then enjoy it, what a weird idea this is in 2015. $12k plus is an expensive lottery ticket and at best your winnings are double it's price in like 40-50 years, not a good lottery ticket considering a winning one dollar ticket nets you millions. Everybody is waiting and hoping they bought the next Comex. I bet less Platonas are sold than D Blues. In fifty years, I would bet that one is more valuable, and will you likely care.....most of us will be at least 70 years old then or 80, price of a watch be damned. I think if I passed down a Deepsea that a family member could wear that isn't a Mona Lisa is more rewarding than something they put on a pedestal and can't touch because it's so "valuable". If you plan you're retirement correctly you won't have to depend on limited edition watches, and you can leave real money to your family vs a super valuable "watch" |

As mentioned before the fact that the watch was displayed at Basel this year is in my eyes a commitment from Rolex at least for another year. Even though ADs would love to be this watch in demand as SS Daytona not so many people can pull off 44mm size.
I absolutely love it and already paid a deposit with my AD 3 weeks ago. Can't wait ! |
