Rolex 1675 seconds hand falling problem
Hello
I have a rolex gmt 1675, the second hand sometimes goes all the way round, however sometimes it will not pass the 45 second mark it will get stuck but the watch will still keep time. If the seconds hand is at 30 seconds and I shake the watch it will fall back to 10-15,20 seconds but will continue to go round. I have attached a video of the problem I have had it in my local jewellers first they said it was a problem with a pinion or one of the wheels now today they called me and told me the watch needs serviced however it was apparently serviced from the jewellers who I bought it from I can send it back to the jewellers i bought from and they will fix it under warranty however i would like everyone's opinion as to what the problem is

If the hand is the correct one, with the long post, it is probably loose and can be tightened. The other possibility is - it is a seconds hand with the shorter post which does not fit properly on the GMT 1675 unless the pinion is changed also. Either way, it is an easy fix by a Rolex trained watchmaker or any competent watchmaker.
As far as the watch needing a service, if you don't like the first opinion, have another watchmaker check it out for you.

The jewellers I had it at is very reputable and there are no alternatives in my area The jeweller did say before it was something to do with the pinion and they were going to change a gear then this moved to a full service which I opted against. I spoke with the jeweller whom I purchased it off and they will fix under warranty but if I can get it done local I would prefer that option

I can't tell you any more about the hand - the video is not a clear enough to make an informed opinion. I'm sure your watchmaker has a handle on the problem and I'm sure everything will work out just fine. The pinion is a relatively inexpensive part.

Quick update:
Got the watch back today, the problem seems to have been eradicated. They took the watch apart as I am led to believe and I believe once they have put it back together they have tightened something and that is it corrected and thus they wanted me to go for a service. I have spoken with the seller who would have corrected the problem under warranty but I am going to keep the watch for now as it is not exhibiting any problems.
