Wearing a Rolex to work - Small business owner

Do you think wearing a Rolex as a small business owner who primarily has general labour type employees (8-10 employees) would negatively effect me?

I am finally in the position to be able to own a Rolex and it sucks that I may not be able to wear it to work (where I spend most of my time) out of fear of pissing off my employees.

Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat. I figure I'll wear mine on weekends and special events. As for work days my G shocks will be just fine

My uncle owns a restaurant and makes pizza in the kitchen with his 16618 sub. Next to the cooks and dishwashers.

I say wear it at will mate, it all depends on how you do it. In my opinion the best way to wear a Rolex is as if it were nothing but a tool for telling time, though there are those who will wear it with unnecessary pomp and circumstance. Try to avoid that, remember your timepiece is a noble instrument for watching your life wither away and not a element that puts you above anyone else. If you can walk with crowds and keep your virtue, or talk with kings nor lose the common touch.... You'll be fine, haha

Are your employees into watches?

I'd wear it. What kind is it BTW?

I think that a Rolex would only be a problem if its the straw that broke the camels back, meaning that if your employees resent their working conditions, then a Rolex on the wrist of their boss might be the last thing they'll want to see. But if everything is well with your business and your relationship with your workers, then wearing one to work shouldn't be a problem at all!

Why buy a Rolex or any other higher end watch and be afraid of wearing it? You bought it because you enjoy it, have the means to purchase, or just love watches. So IMHO, if you are hesitant about wearing your Rolex in any situation, then you should not have bought it in the first place.

I wear my Tudor BB to work on Saturday's and sometimes during the week when I am scheduled to do a consultation with a customer. I normally dress up a bit more for those meetings, rather than wearing older clothes that will get dirty during my daily work.

Start off wearing it occasionally and then if you feel comfortable wear it more often.

I'm not a SMB owner but I work with quite a few subcontractors who are. I like to see them wearing gold watches.

I can't understand why so many are concerned about the watch that they have on their wrist..

People judge you on way more than the watch you wear.. A Rolex is a lot better to wear than many of those ostentatious gigantic drug store monoliths you see on so many wrists today.. Besides, 99 people out of a hundred wouldn't know a Rolex from a Timex..

That's exactly how I feel. Assuming you're a reasonable boss then why worry.

There's a small Italian deli I go to often, the owner is always wearing his DJ. Over the stove, moving pots of soup, in and out of the ovens... You can tell he's the hardest working employee in the place the first time you walk in. I think it shows he's been successful at what he does.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going for a Solid Gold 116618 if this changes anything. Glad to see the responses though and has excited me even more for my purchase.

Assuming you're employees aren't chained up in the basement fighting over some stale bread then enjoy your watch in good health.

Have to agree Larry perhaps if you wear a Rolex it transforms that person into superman.A Rolex is just a watch yes a expensive one but still just a watch, which in the real would doubt if most would even notice or care.
