Rolex 16660 or 16750 both with matte dials

I am considering getting either of the two pieces.

I appreciate that they are in some ways very different.

But I would like to add a vintage piece and I have the choice of a nice 16660 from 1983 with a mk2 dial. or a 1979/80 16750 GMT Master with pepsi bezel.

Nice patina on both and believe that both are genuine.

Unfortunately, neither of them come with B&P's though the 16660 was serviced in 2013. I don't know about the service history on the GMT.

I shall try and post some photos, but firstly I need to get the permission of both owners.

John, I understand that, and did refer to it, in my OP and mentioned that if I could, I would buy both.

I like them equally, but for different reasons.

But, I am hoping that the experts, can hopefully take a look at each piece and see if there is anything that stands out as not being correct.

I would get the Seadweller as I loved both of mine.

I would only get the 16750 myself it has a plastic crystal and is vintage all the way. The matte sea dweller is nice but with a sapphire crystal it just has never done it for me personally.

I will answer on my enablers post since Greekbum has given me personal knowledge of both watches.

The 16750 is lighter, has patina, acrylic crystal, and a cyclops. It wears very comfortably. I also like the Pepsi insert.

The 16660 is heavier, has patina, sapphire crystal, and no cyclops over the date. I do not know why the date with no cyclops fascinates me. It does. It is heavier when you first put it on, however, I forget about that after about five minute. You also see a lot less of the 16660 Seadwellers. I was not able to open your link.

I like them both.

The GMT 16750 looks original based on the photos. It should have a red-back bezel insert and even it is doesn't, they are readily available on the secondary market. The date wheel, if that would keep you up at night worrying about it, should be brushed silver. Also, the GMT has a very early 6 million serial number which you do not see very often on these 16750 models.

They both look awesome and that was the nicest 666 I ever had. I am glad you are enjoying both of them

I think the SD. Its a brute and it has SEL's so it will stay in great shape forever. Just my .02
