Buying current 3135 when new movement will be out?

I decided to buy a new Rolex, but with the 3235 being released should I wait? I know 3135 is a workhorse movement. You think having 3235 will make 3135 inferior?

The New movement is only in certain models, at present I doubt it makes the 3135 inferior to the average wearer. Chronometer certification is the same which ever movement you have.

I'd hate to buy something new then have it be obsolete after couple years. :( Or is there something different with the 3135 that I don't know about.

At the moment its only the cal 3255 that's been released in slow sellers like the DD and the 3235 in the Pearlmaster. And IMHO no matter when if they ever release a cal 3235 across the range, will it be a huge improvement over the cal 3135 doubtful.Yes it might have a bit more power reserve but just like any other movement regarding accuracy its only as good as what its been regulated too.

You might be waiting five years for a movement that the subsequent buyer you want to sell will probably not even have heard of. I would go ahead and buy now.

All things being equal, I'd prefer the newer 3235. If the marketing is true, increased power reserve and accuracy would be welcomed. I would not, however, want to hold off on getting a watch that I liked as God only knows when it will be rolled out to more popular models like the Sub.

If the OP is buying the new DD 40 with 3255 movement he won't have to wait that much longer

You must be an Apple user..

Rolex is continually updating their movements: hairsprings, mainsprings, jewels, pallets, etc. At some point the changes are enough that all parts won't interchange and they change the number..

The 3235, when it comes out, won't make the 3135 any more "inferior" or obsolete than the 3135 did to the previous 3035.

If it were me I'd try to get a transitional model with the new movement. It may go up in value.

Unless you want to buy a new DD or a Pearlmaster I would make sure it has the new moevement. For any other model I wouldn't wait for a movement upgrade as this could take years to happen. Buy your Rolex, enjoy it, and flip it in a couple of years to the one with the newer movement if its really important to you.
