Incoming! 2 Out, 1 In (Hint: It's Heavy!)

Well first off, it won't be a surprise to anyone that I stayed in the Daytona family as it is my favorite Rolex model!

I had a TT, YG on strap, SS and now the latest incoming is the WG Daytona. I traded my SS Daytona + TT 116613 "Smurf" Dial to get this watch. I do not know if this was the right move, but in all honesty the 116613 got very little wear since I bought it in Jan '15. I am not the type to have a collection, I just want one nice piece and one "beater" for beaches and bike riding etc.

I decided to go WG as I tried everything, and I never felt comfortable wearing colored gold. I had the SS Daytona since Thanksgiving '14 and barely took it off my wrist. I am also a sucker for exotic dials and couldn't come to mod my SS Daytona for the sake of originality. Although I think I want to add a Panda dial as it is original to the 116509 :)

So now on to the WG Daytona. In my humble opinion, yes it does look very similar to the SS Daytona but that is why we buy WG right? It does have a slight yellow hue which any ordinary civilian would not recognize. It is the details that strike me. The dial, the stunning bezel font (I love it compared to the SS Bezel font), overall heft of the watch, and the englarged lugs which make this watch wear a bit bigger than the SS.

Is this "the one" I am fairly certain the answer is yes, but only time will tell

Thanks all!! Hope to enjoy it this holiday weekend.

When I first opened the box, I thought OK its just a heavier version of my SS Daytona. After a few hours, it feels totally different. It has heft but you totally forget it's on your wrist. Again all those little details (dial, bezel, different lugs) really make the difference to me.

I had the black dial. IMHO it was nice, but needed something to jazz it up a bit. I just could not come to simply replacing the dial on my SS watch. After reviewing the photos on our "modififed Rolex" thread the WG dials just dont look right to me on the SS watches.
