Daytona dissapointment
I just got back from a local AD tried on SS, the RG ceramic and a tt. While I have been working on a deal to acquire one of these without handling one, I was so underwhelmed by the piece I will abandon the effort.
My wrist brain feedback screamed fragile, it seemed feminine and dainty. Then again I rock a SD4K daily, but rotate frequently w a BLNR. I am disappointed, I wanted to like this piece. I still need to fill the chrono void in the collection. |

Once you have one on the wrist for a while, it all makes sense. If you need something bigger, check out the Yachtmaster II. It's movement is not exactly a chronograph, but it is based off the 4130. |

Unless it has to be a Rolex, try an Omega Speedmaster. They are more robust in appearance and if the classic one is too small they have larger and thicker modern versions. I have one on now and I think it wears bigger than my GMT II.

i dont agree with any of your wrist brain feedback, but that is why you try them on, its not for you good so move on to something else
on an aside I easily moved between a YMII and the Daytona and love and appreciate them both for what they are and how they look and feel, some people can't do that |

To each their own.
I really like the Daytona and would love to have a WG panda. Perhaps since you are so used to the SD4K it threw you off with such a difference in feel? Given time maybe you'd enjoy the Daytona. |

I had a GSOM, beautiful watch, couldn't stand the tactile feedback of the pushers! In that arena I will give the daytona a nod, pushers smooth as silk.

I'm rotating between a gmt2c/milly GV and an RG Daytona and I completely disagree.

I love the Daytona. I mean I love it.
But just got this. You want a chrono. This is my new piece. Will fit the bill of description

If you're looking for a chrono and want something more robust, why not try an AP ?

Understand the OP's feeling. Tried on modern Daytona (Rolex movement) numerous times and they don't sing to me at all. The dial just looks wrong and something about it doesn't work. I've never come close to buying one.

Understand that this is not an attack on the daytona, its a fine piece, it's just not for me. Just the way speedos aren't for me (not an attack on speedos). LOL

For the longest time, I always said I would never own a Daytona. Now, I am on the hunt for my 2nd Daytona. Not only do people have different tastes........tastes also change.

It really is a stunning watch.
And very substantial. Heavy. Big. Very well proportioned and balanced. And damn, it looks good.

I'd take a look at the DSOTM. It's big, ultra sporty, and looks completely different than your SD and BLNR. Used prices are pretty good right now, too. I think there is a lot of value with the DSOTM.

I prefer the Speedmaster (the 3570.50) to the Daytona.

I just love any Daytona. FYI love all women too. Don't think of any non jewerled up Daytona as a ladies watch.

JJ. It's incredibly well balanced. Shockingly thin in comparison to most watches.
It's a really awesome watch.

That's the miracle of the Daytona movement, all that tech in a small package. I love it's size and do not find it fragile, dainty nor feminine. That women can wear it says more about women's taste today than it does about the size of the watch.
I hope to one day own a Daytona, in it's current less than 40mm size. Sorry that the Daytona didn't work out. The Overseas and DSOTM should fill the the bigger watch desire. |
