Officer down... again

And yet another, this is just mind boggling. RIP my brother, we'll see you on the other side.

Tragic, Tim, just tragic. It's happening all to often and something has to change. I can't say here what I would like to see change because that would be "political" and God forbid I offend someone.
My heart and prayer go out to him, his family, and his brother officers. RIP

Way too frequent

Almost gives me the feeling like 'Hey there's a cop . . . . let's shoot him'

This is maybe rude how I am writing it but I really do respect the Police Officers !

It was but apparently it's becoming a very dangerous job . . . . sadly enough :(

It is hard to defend yourself when you are afraid of getting reprimanded, fired, sued, or have riots following your actions. It causes a split second of hesitation which can make all the difference in the world.

So true and per my friends still on the job that is exactly what is happening.

Also they do the bare minimum, in other words take thier radio calls. Period. No community policing, self initiated activity or cleaning up chronic nuisance issues in your patrol area. Just raises your level of potential liability if things go bad. Sad because I know these men and women want to work and they are not bullies. They are good cops. They just don't believe they will be supported.

Body cameras for every officer. If you are doing your job well these frivilous complaints as well as the "I was just minding my own business when suddenly the officer did this" complaints will plummet.

Amen. While law enforcement is still a noble profession, I wouldn't want any of my family members to get into it nowadays. It is now something twisted by politicians and others to push their own self-serving agendas. They guys I work with are much more concerned about getting screwed by their own department than getting into a gunfight with a bad guy. Hopefully the climate changes, but I'm not counting on it.

RIP fellow LEO.

It's so sad that now a days your professional liability insurance is to protect you from your own agency.

Here in Australia, our Police Services (they used to be Police Forces) spend an inordinate amount of time and resources investigating themselves through the internal investigations and complaints process. A sensible level of emphasis on this is essential but everytime an officer uses any level of force he/she has to be thinking "How is this going to be viewed when I am investigated?" and the way things are, this is just about everytime they step out of the patrol car.

Very unfortunate situation that's all too common nowadays.

My company is working to combat violence against police officers by identifying and suppressing threats posted on social media. For example, a few months back 2 NYPD officers were shot and killed in Brooklyn while sitting in their patrol car. The shooter specifically said he was going to kill police and posted a photo of a gun and blood-stained pants on Instagram but it wasn't picked up in time. Sad story.

Let's hope this violence against LEOs calms down.

Can't understand the mind of someone shooting a police officer. Something is wrong BIG time in their heads.

Well, "smart" people these days are telling others they are "victims" and said "victims" are believing it - sad really. I will not go into a political spin either, other than to say certain party "politics" are being incendiary and fermenting this rise in bloodshed.

In a recently exposed (and foiled) terrorist plot in Australia, the young perpetrator's M.O. was to run down a Police Officer and then take his weapon and use it to enable the next stage of the plot which was to shoot as many civilians as possible.
Some still questioned a subsequent incident in which Police fired on a car trying to run them down.

Yesterday here in PA a man involved in a domestic hit a PSP car intentionally going over 90 mph, both troopers inside were injured but not bad, unreal.
