From what I've read they all switch over at different times. I'm not 100 percent sure but maybe some seasoned members can chime in.

I'm assuming it will always change at 00:05:05; kind of changing like clock work.

I'm pretty anal about my watches, but the one thing that I am clueless on is what time my watches change over...if I'm up that late I'm not looking at my watch...
From what I understand, however, is that's a relatively easy fix with a good watchmaker if it bugs you. |

5 min past midnight here. I don't find it too alarming if im honest. It changed to a new date, that's all that matters.

I have had them change before and after 12. As long as they change before morning I am happy:)

That's fine. It depends on how the hands are fixed, it's not a movement issue.

Not bothered, not worried, not wanting to change it; all my other watches are closer to midnight, however. As far as not being up for midnight, I work from 6 PM till 6 AM so it is rare that I'm not up for midnight. Last night strangely (or not) I happened to be getting ready for bed at 11:55 PM and thought I'd keep an eye on my watch to see it change over. About three minutes past I was wondering if the watch was correctly set. Two minutes later it changed. I was thinking, how could I not recognize it being incorrectly set; that wasn't the case. It's just a late changing watch.
Regarding the ease of getting hands changed to correct the problem. All the watch makers in the area seem to want to do full over hauls and not just things like replace crystals or swap dials. It seems that they want to get as much money as possible coming in. Anyone know of a shop in the Boston area that will do such trivial work as change hands or replace crystals and dial? If I ship a watch away it is likely a $70 to $80 dollar fee just for insurance and shipping. Nothing trivial about getting minor watch repairs done, imho. |
