For your wrist size and life style a 36mm DJ suits you best. Its a beautiful and iconic Rolex watch BTW.

Have you considered an Oyster Perpetual in 34mm? You'd be a great candidate for it, and it's a beautiful watch.

I think it is too big. What is your wrist size? Has to be sub 6 inches

I agree. Stunning DJ and way classier with a suit. The upside of a DJ is that because of the large number of combinations of dial/bezel/ bracelet it is very rare to see someone else with the same watch. I have never seen another DJ like mine in the wild. I love the sub but would not want to wear it every day at work.

If you're going to be called sugar ray you can at least handle a Subc.

Na, Sugar Ray is classic. He wears a 36mm DD.

Unless, of course, you mean this Sugar Ray...

Try the SD4000 on. Compare it with the Sub-C. SD4000 works great on skinny wrists.

Since it's a gift from my mom I will buy new.

I really like the Sub. But I think I may go with this version of the DJ because of your peoples answers.

Don't you think all in all that would be the best pick?
That's just a beautiful DJ; I really like the dial and bezel combination!!! I can't wait to see it on you for real.

I wish 40mm looked that substantial on my wrist - IMHO 'oversized' doesn't start until you go beyond 42mm (most people over 6'2" would likely agree). I would go with the Sub if it makes you happy - the DJ is completely different and may not suit your style if you're drawn to a more sporty watch.

I am one of those who believes that Subs and suits don't mix. The datejust is more elegant and fits you very nicely. (Especially that gorgeous silver dial 116200.) It would certainly be my choice for the office. And the Datejust is one of the rare watches that looks great in informal settings as well as formal ones. (Again in my personal view.)

Setting that aside, the Sub looks a tiny bit big on you, but it's a 40mm sports watch; there are not many smaller sports watches out there, so I would not worry much about it being perceived as "oversized". And as others have said, watches look bigger in close-up wrist shots than in real life. If on the other hand it feels uncomfortably big, like the lugs overhang your wrist, then yes maybe it is too big.

Hahah

You guys rock!!!! Once again thank you all for your inputs and time - It really means a lot to me!!!

Actually my name is from the band Sugarray and I see that the frontman wears a Sub :)

Give "Answer the phone" a try !!!

Well back to the topic. It seems that even those who say the Sub will be ok thinks the DJ FITS better. I know I shouldn't pick a watch just because what ppl think but I'm here to get the advice what "rules" I have to consider when picking a watch. And I see what you mean when you are talking about the lugs - They almost go over my wrist...

Hoped it would be easy to pick the right watch ... I was naive...
