RSC Needs?

So I've just recently bought my Rolex (16610) and it had just returned from the RSC so it could be sold in as new condition as possible. So for the time being I'm good. But I know in due time I will need to send my watch off and I know its always been 5-7 years and now I'm hearing 10. Assuming you watch is being used just for normal wear and you don't see any issues with anything, is there a need to send it sooner than later? Is using the moto "If it ain't broke don't fix it" good, or should I have a "timer" so that I should send my watch out when the time comes?

My father has had his for 20 some odd years and to my knowledge he's never sent it back. Certainly not within the past 15 years. I've never seen that watch off his wrist for longer than a couple hours.

It's always been little more than a recommendation, not a mandatory time period. If you wear your watch in harsh conditions and it gets pretty beat up, I would think that sooner would be a good choice.

I know it's against all the recommendations but I just recently had my 16610 serviced and it had been over 15 years since it's last service. It was a daily watch for me and kept great time until just before the service.
As far as I know it didn't cost me any more to service the watch.

I think it's like waiting longer to get your car serviced or oil changed. You're probably ok, but the longer you put it off, the higher the probability that there could be more costly repairs potentially needed. Each person has to access their own risk profile.

Agree with this. Also don't forget that rubber seals deteriorate over time which will compromise water resistance.

I think service is good to the watch but my interval would be 10-12 years.

Agreed, some of mine are overdue but they mostly sit in the bank these days.
