Incoming 5513 Gilt Gloss

Other than the missing lume in the hour hand and some cracks in the 12 lume, the dial looks near perfect to me.

What do you think?

Since you did ask for opinions I will say that I notice that a bit lume has flaked off the edges of many of the hour plots. More pics are needed.

It's very easy misrepresent the condition of a gilt dial. Multiple pics from all angles in natural light is needed to get a good opinion. Best is to have it in your hand or have a good return clause to avoid disappointment. I don't think the pics allow an accurate judgement to be made - I'd be worried that the pics are chosen so that flaws are not obvious.

Thanks - I took these pics and have the watch in hand. The only two issues I can see with the dial are a slight error in the L of Rolex, and the lume is pretty thin on plots 11-4. I'd post better pics but the dial is so glossy it's hard to take pics in bright light with the camera I have.

This watch cost me less than many matt dial 5513's are selling for, so I'm not expecting perfection.

Ok, that's better. If it looks good to the eye then fine. Lume may not be perfect but if less than 10k U.S.d I think you've done well.

Looks great! Are the lume plots as white as they appear in the pic? Or just as a result of camera flash?

Lume is pretty thin on many of the plots, which is why they look so white. The dial is scratched, but still has a high gloss and is very reflective.

As I said before, not perfect, but very nice - and even nicer after the ABC spa treatment.

Great job Al, did you find out if it's a 65 / 66? Did ABC replace the crystal, it looked like the before photos, the crystal had those fine cracks like my watch did.

Enjoy

Thanks Robert - caseback is dated iii/65. After seeing yours, I had them replace the crystal with the dome crystal they manufacture - it really helps recreate the original look of the watch.
