What is your new Watch routine

Ok guys, what is your new watch routine. I always ask the AD to leave all stickers and and tags in place.

On coming home, I will normally pop on the kettle and make a mug of Nescafes finest. Next I will get the digital camera and photograph each stage, first the bag. I'll take the box out and start to unpack everything.
Seeing the watch I'll carefully remove it from the box and stare at it for ages. I then remove the tags and plastics except the case edge plastics. During this I am photographing each stage.

Then I will set the watch to "Tim" and put on my wrist, again gazing for a long time. I would then glance over the bookelts which I must of read in the past over thousand times Normally I will then put all the bits and bobs safely away and store it in my dresser, relax and log on here as quickly as possible with another cup of coffee.

So whats your routine

Normally get the AD to leave all the tags/protective layers on. Then get home & like a child on Christmas Day unwrapping his presents, slowly remove all coverings & put them in the box. Then make sure the watch fits (doing any necessary adjustments). Set the time to TIM & open a posh bottle of wine. Stare at the watch. Hold it up to the light. Check the lume. Stare at the watch. Listen to it's movement. Stare at the watch. Shake my wrist so there isn't too much movement on the wrist. Stare at the watch. Show the wife & bore her with it. Stare at the watch. Examine the dial for dust etc. Stare at the watch.

Then repeat staring at the watch ad infinitum...

Nescafe ??? Oh my God! Don't you Brits drink tea? Nescafe isn't even considered real coffee in the states...it is a poor substitute, at best. It sounds like you make a pretty big production out of getting a new watch. Maybe you should bring it out for high tea at The Savoy. (I was going to suggest getting a room, but I don't want to sound like a jerk). Next time, get a Starbucks. It will heighten the experience.

My one and only watch routine is to wear the Rolex on my wrist as I exit my AD.

Bl00Dy good loupe inspection at the AD, wind it make sure it ticks and bring it home on wrist a bit like smuggling it past the Rotweiller, ready to blag my way past claiming it's an "existing part of the collection".....locking myself in the office to drool and dribble and start monitoring it's rate (every 5 mins usually) not that getting a new one is anything special like!

Oh and I don't touch Nescafe either usually a decent expresso

Retain all tags/stickers & boxes in a larger plastic tupperware box, where all of that type of stuff goes, put the lid on it, & into the closet it goes.

Then, slap on the watch, & go crazy !!!!!!!..........yeh-ha....gha

Last time I bought new it was a Daytona....

I had the AD take off all the plastic, their watchmaker sized it and wiped it down (I asked for and got another Rolex cloth), and set the proper time.

I had all the tags, plastic tachy bezel cover (yes, it comes with one), little green suede cloth, books and warranty, and the GMT that I was wearing placed in the box over-box, and sleeve,

and I wore it out of the shop and off to lunch.

................oh yes....I did have a smile on my face all day long....

Starbucks overpriced but nice Savoy, WAY overpriced. Actually my first SD, I did just that, went to have a Starbucks.

Bugger the routine!!!!!!

Only new Rolex I have bought was LV...I got the AD to take all the junk off of it and then size it for me.

I then got him to polish it for me with his swanky white "snooker ref" gloves.

I then paid him and cried a little inside when I thought about how much the bloody thing cost.

They're just watches...not babies.

Routines...well, I think mine will be similar to JBH's.

Speaking of which, I just pulled the trigger on a new M-series SD. It's being overnighted from Toronto to Vancouver and the ETA is Tuesday.

Pics, wrist shot, and review to follow!

I am so very excited now...first getting accepted into Queen's Medicine (Kingston, Ontario) and now a new SD.

Life is great! BTW, PM me for what I think is a great price. I shopped across Ontario and BC for this. If anyone remembers, I had offered a Word document listing all the AD's in Ontario, the best price from each, and my impressions of each. THIS IS STILL AVAILABLE, so if you would like a copy, please don't hesitate to email me. This is just my way of returning something to the forum.

With a watch? Basically, I buy it, put it on and go on about my life. There's nothing wrong with celebrating an expensive purchase...Maybe with some Don Julio tequila.

But photo document every part of the process of something you've bought for yourself?

Hmmm...
