Rolex Submariner 16800
I've always fancied getting my self a vintage Submariner and a deal has just come up were I would receive a 1985 Sub 16800. My idea is to send it to RSC London for a service, keep the dial & hands original and have them fit a new 93150 bracelet c/w new end links. Now the bill from RSC will be quite substantial so I've got to ask, is it worth it ?
if you look at the attached picture there is quite a gap between end link and lug, is this down to wear on the end link or wear on the lug, basically will a new bracelet & end links sort out the gaps ? |

Nice looking watch. I wouldn't mess with a new bracelet personally.

The "is it worth it" question is one that we all have to ask ourselves; it means one thing to some and another thing to others.
Personally I repair or restore my watches to my standards and if that means that I spend a bit more on a watch to get it where I want it to be than it's current market value, so-be-it. If I don't rescue an old watch then who will !!!! Some folks look at it differently - I don't think that they enjoy stuff much.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I'm not sure that any gloss dial, sapphire crystal Sub could be construed as vintage. Perhaps a "transitional" model, at best. Bracelet has some stretch, but doesn't look too bad going from your one photo. I wouldn't bother replacing.

as for service, is the watch running, keeping time, etc... What about the novel idea of just wearing and enjoying the watch Do you have the proper endlinks on the watch and bracelet |

It is a matte dial.
As for receive I don't mean buy as such, there is a swop involved. So do you think the bracelet & end links are incorrect ? |

It's not a matt dial, it has white gold surrounds...
Take the bracelet off and see what endlinks are on there, could be. Is the bracelet a 9315 folded link. The patina is perfect, the bezel pearl |

is there water damage on or about the 6 mark , looks like a stain in the picture , if so , a service would be very high on the list.
